The 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid has above-average performance for a hybrid, highlighted by its athletic handling that results in little body lean in corners. Additionally, it has plenty of power for city driving, though its acceleration is merely adequate on the highway.

Acceleration and Power

The Fusion Hybrid makes a combined 188 horsepower from its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor. A continuously variable automatic transmission is standard. The Fusion Hybrid has plenty of pep around the city, but merging and passing on the highway require a heavy foot on the gas. On the plus side, the transition from electric to gas is seamless.

There are no EPA estimates yet for the 2018 Fusion Hybrid, but Ford estimates it will get 44 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway.

Handling and Braking

Despite being a hybrid, the 2018 Fusion Hybrid has responsive steering and sporty handling that inspire confidence through turns. However, like most hybrids, you'll have to get used to the grabby regenerative brakes. Front-wheel drive is standard.
