2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid was new.

Interior: 7.6

Test drivers write that the 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid has an attractive cabin, which features premium materials and an available MyFord Touch infotainment system that creates a clean design with minimal buttons on the center stack. However, they also write that some shoppers may not like the infotainment system’s touch-screen controls. While some critics say that a few rivals feel more spacious, most report that the Fusion Hybrid still has comfortable front seats and enough back-seat space for two adults.

  • "There's a cool and urbane style to the seats and dash, a tone set largely by the high-quality finishes and, of course, the lack of center stack buttons afforded by the optional MyFord Touch touchscreen system. The emphasis is on having large, nicely textured surfaces and removing extraneous clutter, and it mostly works." -- Edmunds
  • "Inside, flowing lines and contoured shapes displace the straight-edged design of the old car. Soft-touch surfaces abound, and the interior is also quieter than before thanks to acoustic underbody shields that also contribute to the Fusion's efficiency-boosting 0.27 coefficient of drag." -- Left Lane News
  • "Not only is the Fusion shhhexy (as Sean Connery would say) on the outside, but it is pleasingly dashing on the inside, too. The center console is relatively minimalistic and easy to use." -- Jalopnik (2013)

The 2015 Fusion Hybrid seats five and is available with a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, power-adjustable front seats and leather upholstery. Reviewers note that some rivals feel roomier than the Fusion Hybrid, and that rearward visibility could be better from the driver’s seat. Most critics also report that the back seats offer enough head- and legroom for two adults to sit comfortably, though a few note that taller back-seat passengers may want more headroom.

  • "… Ford's interior designers got all the basics right, with a driver seat that's easy to adjust into a just-right position and good sight lines out the front and sides. It's harder to see through the sloping rear window, so it's good a rearview camera now is standard." -- Edmunds
  • "The 2015 Ford Fusion's attractive 5-passenger cabin doesn't feel as airy as some of its competitors. Nonetheless, there's room for four adults, and three kids can sit in the rear without too much ‘He's on my side!’" -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Seating is comfortable, with good support, and vision is adequate if not fantastic. Despite the swooping headline of the new Fusion, the rear seats have solid head- and legroom, although again, not class-leading." -- Jalopnik (2013)
  • "The front interior space is very much driver-oriented, and given that, feels somewhat tight and constrained. Rear seat space and legroom, however, were substantial for this 5-foot, 9-inch scribe. But replace me with a 6-foot-something rider and you'll likely get complaints about side visibility and headroom." -- Motor Trend (2013)

Interior Features

The Ford Fusion Hybrid comes standard with a rearview camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlights, a six-speaker stereo and Ford’s voice-activated Sync system, which includes a USB port, Bluetooth and hands-free text messaging. Ford’s MyKey system is also standard, which lets parents set vehicle speed and audio volume limits for young drivers. Available features include a moonroof, remote start, proximity key, push-button start, navigation, a Sony audio system, satellite radio, a MyFord Touch infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, forward collision warning with automatic braking, blind spot monitoring with cross traffic alert, lane departure warning with lane keeping assist, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, rear parking sensors, parallel park assist and adaptive cruise control.

Test drivers note that the Fusion Hybrid is available with a wide range of driver assistance features, and some report that the available MyFord Touch infotainment system responds well to voice commands. However, others point out that MyFord Touch is a little glitchy, and that its lack of conventional knobs and buttons may not appeal to all shoppers.

  • "Everything from blind-spot warning and adaptive cruise control to automatic parallel parking can be had on the 2015 Fusion Hybrid -- and that's before you get to the ever-expanding capabilities of the current MyFord Touch driver-interface system. Although it still has quirks, it does offer some very useful customization and voice control functionality." -- Edmunds
  • "MyFord Touch also replaces conventional knobs and buttons with a center-mounted touchscreen and touch-sensitive controls in the center stack. Many consumers report that the system is a ‘love it or hate it’ item, so those interested in the Fusion are advised to try before they buy." -- Left Lane News

The 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid has 12 cubic feet of cargo space, which is decent for a hybrid midsize car, but slightly less than what the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Honda Accord Hybrid offer. Critics appreciate the Fusion Hybrid’s ample small-item storage spaces and standard split-folding rear seats, which provide some flexibility if you need to carry larger items.

  • "And, as a bonus compared to its chief rival, the Accord Hybrid, the Ford offers a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, which gives it greater versatility." -- Edmunds
  • "The family sedan's rear seats fold for more cargo room, even in the Hybrid model, but they can't be released from inside the trunk." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "There are plenty of storage spaces throughout the cabin." -- Motor Trend (2013)
