Reviewers are somewhat divided on the redesigned 2013 Fusion Hybrid’s interior. Some say the cabin is elegant, with a simple design and upscale materials. Others think it looks bland and uses some cheap materials.

Eco-friendly cloth seats and a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat are standard on the 2013 Fusion Hybrid. Leather-trimmed, heated front seats are available. One test driver thinks the green seating material, which is made from recycled plastic, feels cheap. Most reviewers like the Fusion Hybrid’s seats, saying they’re comfortable, roomy and provide a good driving position. One notes that the driver seat can feel somewhat cramped, though.

Interior Features

The Ford Fusion Hybrid comes standard with dual-zone automatic climate control, back-seat air conditioning vents, a six-speaker CD audio system, an auxiliary audio jack, satellite radio and Ford’s voice-controlled Sync with MyFord infotainment system, which includes Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity, 911 Assist (which can call emergency responders) and a feature that reads incoming text messages over the speakers while you’re driving. The Fusion Hybrid can be equipped with features like rain-sensing windshield wipers, backup sensors, a rearview camera, a 110-volt household plug, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, active park assist with forward sensing system, blind-spot monitoring with cross traffic alert, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a moonroof, Sync with MyFord Touch and navigation. The 2013 Fusion Hybrid has eight standard airbags, including a driver and front passenger knee airbag, which is above-average for the class. Its standard safety features also include a post-crash alert system, which automatically flashes the lights and sounds the horn in the event of an accident. Ford’s MyKey is also standard, and it lets parents set limits for young drivers.

Most auto critics think the Fusion Hybrid’s available MyFord Touch infotainment system is confusing and hard to use. One says the navigation system took longer than expected to help him reach his destination. Another says it is hard to read once fingerprints dirty the screen and voice commands sometimes are misunderstood. The touch-screen climate controls are disliked by one reviewer, who wishes the Fusion Hybrid had knobs instead, like the ones for the audio system. One critic says the digital screens next to the gauges are some of the best in the industry. The rearview camera and active park assist system get high marks for their ease of use.

The 2013 Fusion Hybrid's 12-cubic-foot trunk is a little smaller than the Toyota Camry Hybrid’s 13.1-cubic-foot trunk and the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid’s 12.1-cubic-foot trunk. Reviewers like the 2013 Fusion Hybrid’s small battery, which gives the car more trunk space, and they note the usefulness of a folding rear seat and pass-through, which many hybrids don’t offer. One test driver thinks the Fusion Hybrid’s trunk has an unusual shape. Another critic likes the number of interior storage cubbies.
