2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid Overview

Auto critics agreed that the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid provides all the practicality expected of a family sedan, while delivering exceptional fuel economy and a dynamic driving experience. The Fusion Hybrid was a new model for 2010, and when it debuted, the automotive press liked it so much they named it the 2010 North American Car of the Year. Test drivers were impressed with the Fusion Hybrid’s nimble handling and good power delivery. Thanks to smooth transitions between gas and electric power, critics noted that the Fusion Hybrid was very successful at blending the benefits of a hybrid with the driving experience of a conventional gas-powered sedan. On the inside, they appreciated its high-quality construction, high-tech fuel efficiency gauges, Sync infotainment system and ample space.

One of the things reviewers disliked was the lack of trunk space in the Fusion Hybrid, which is the result of its battery pack eating up space. This is a typical complaint of hybrid versions of non-hybrid cars. Another thing they pointed out was the Fusion Hybrid’s regenerative brakes, which they said felt squishy at first, but once you’re used to them, they perform well.

The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid has a four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, which are paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The combination is good for 41/36 mpg city/highway, which is among the best fuel economy estimates you’ll find on a 2010 midsize car. Six airbags, anti-lock brakes, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and traction control are standard on the 2010 Fusion Hybrid. Inside, the Fusion Hybrid is also well-equipped, with cruise control, parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, power front seats and Ford’s Sync infotainment system, which includes Bluetooth and iPod connections. Optional features when it was new include a sunroof, leather seats, heated front seats, navigation and a blind-spot warning system.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid has great fuel economy ratings, though they still aren’t quite as good as the Fusion Hybrid’s. When the Camry Hybrid was new, test drivers liked its comfortable, quiet ride, refined hybrid powertrain and especially spacious back seat.

As with the Toyota Camry Hybrid, the 2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid can’t quite match the Fusion Hybrid’s fuel economy. Still, if you’re looking for a hybrid car that’s fun to drive, reviewers agreed that the 2010 Altima Hybrid was one of the top choices within its class.
