The 2019 Fusion Energi has a refined interior with soft-touch plastics and some high-quality materials. Legroom and headroom are generous, and the seats are comfortable. The SYNC 3 infotainment system is easy to use, but the Fusion Energi has less cargo space than most rivals.

Seating

The Fusion Energi seats five on standard leather upholstery. Power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and a leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel are also standard.

The Fusion Energi offers good head- and legroom in both rows. The plushy front seats offer plenty of support. Most 6-foot adults can fit in the back seats just fine. For installing child safety seats, there are two sets of lower LATCH anchors in the rear outboard seats and three top tethers.

Interior Features

The 2019 Fusion Energi comes in one well-equipped trim. Standard features include remote start, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, a 12-speaker Sony stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Standard active safety features include adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, MyKey (which lets you set volume and speed limits for secondary drivers), and Ford’s new Co-Pilot360 package, which features pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, and automatic high beams. A moonroof is available.

Ford’s SYNC 3 system is easy to use and responsive, and the navigation system responds to smartphonelike gestures such as swiping and pinch-to-zoom. Connecting your smartphone to the system and accessing your favorite apps is a cinch.

Cargo

With 8.2 cubic feet of trunk space, the Fusion Energi has less storage than most other midsize cars, including hybrids. The placement of the car's battery cuts into trunk space and creates an awkward shelf, making it difficult to load the small trunk.

It also makes for a pathetically tiny, nearly useless window slot of a pass-through when the back seat is folded.
