2011 Ford Focus Overview

When it was new, reviewers said the 2011 Ford Focus was dated compared with many of its classmates, with interior materials that aren’t as nice as some competitors’. It comes with an auxiliary input jack, air conditioning and a stereo, which is better than what some of the competition has standard, but the Focus’ main competitors have a standard USB port and Bluetooth. When it was new, the Focus provided as an option Ford’s Sync infotainment system, which offers voice-activated turn-by-turn navigation, real-time traffic and cell phone integration. It received mix reviews, with some reviewers finding it highly functional and others finding it difficult to use. Reviewers found the front seats of the Focus to be comfortable, though rear-seat legroom is tight. The trunk also has a good amount of cargo space.

In terms of performance, auto critics labeled the Focus’ 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine sluggish and unrefined, though they said the 2011 Focus should suit drivers who just want a basic small car. The Focus gets good fuel economy ratings of 25/35 mpg city/highway with a manual transmission. Its strong safety and add to its appeal.

Other Cars to Consider

Available as a sedan, coupe and hatchback, the 2011 Kia Forte offers car shoppers more versatility than the 2011 Ford Focus with similarly high safety scores. The Forte’s performance reviews were pretty similar to the Focus’, with car reviewers saying that the Forte was a suitable daily driver, but not very powerful. Like the Focus, the Forte has comfortable front seats, though the rear ones may be tight for adults. What makes the Forte stand out are impressive standard features like Bluetooth and a USB port, as well as plenty of cargo space in the sedan and hatchback models.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta isn’t available as a coupe, but you can buy a sedan or hatchback model. Both models have high safety scores. Sedan and hatchback versions of the Fiesta have good cargo space for a subcompact, though the Focus has more. The Fiesta stands out for its quality interior, good performance and class-leading fuel economy ratings. The Fiesta’s positive attributes helped it earn the U.S. News 2011 Best Subcompact Car for the Money award.
