Buying Advice

Last Updated: December 20, 2018

Extremely Low Sales: This year, the Ford Flex is the slowest selling midsize SUV on the market. The Flex is likely losing most of its customers to its spotlight-stealing sibling, the Ford Explorer. The Explorer is currently outselling the Flex more than 12 to 1.

Average Pricing: A base model Flex starts at $30,575, which is about average for the class. Still, nearly a third of the class starts below $30,000.

Time to Buy: The Ford Flex is due to be discontinued soon. This, coupled with low demand, means you can likely negotiate a good deal. For a lower price, but fewer seats, consider the Flex's stablemate, the 2018 Ford Edge. It starts about $1,200 below the Flex and was named both 2018 Best 2-Row SUV for the Money and 2018 Best 2-Row SUV for Families. This month's Ford deals page has all the best finance and lease offers to help you save on either option.
