2011 Ford Fiesta Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2011 Ford Fiesta was new.

Interior: 8.8

Reviewers say that the 2011 Ford Fiesta has one of the nicest interiors in the class. While the base S model is fairly basic, upgrading to the higher SEL and SES trims gets you features like Ford's Sync infotainment system.

  • "Comfort was never an issue; the Fiesta's refined interior and compliant ride far surpass the city-car norm." -- Automobile Magazine
  • "Not only is the interior a welcoming cockpit, with a contemporary design--from the instrument panel, to the thick, formed steering wheel, to comfortable seats for adults of all sizes--but the packaging is sufficient to carry it all." -- AutoWeek
  • "Climb into the surprisingly large interior and it doesn't feel like our idea of what a small car should be either. It feels spacious and even, dare I say it, luxurious, an effect created by the large glass house, good packaging and high-quality materials." -- Jalopnik

Despite being a small car, reviewers say that the Fiesta offers a surprising amount of passenger space and comfort. Most agree that there is plenty of room in both the front and rear seats, but keep in mind that almost every review we've analyzed was of the hatchback. Space in sedan models may differ.

  • "Despite the rakish roof line we put four six-footers in one simultaneously without looking like a circus act." -- New Car Test Drive
  • "While a 6'5" colleague raved about the head and legroom, something about the Fiesta felt a little claustrophobic to me. The back seat is comfy and has lots of headroom (tight on legroom, though) and the cargo bay is smartly shaped, though a bit small." -- About.com
  • "The bucket seats-leather-clad in this car-were comfortable, with a nice range of adjustability. Pedal placement was sports-car correct, and the shift lever for the five-speed manual was close to the reach. Okay, scratch that last part; of course it was close to the reach, nothing in a subcompact car is very far away." -- Car and Driver

Interior Features

The majority of reviewers were impressed with the interior features on the Ford Fiesta. For the most part, though, they were driving the higher trims which come with more features and options. The base S trim comes standard with air conditioning and a four-speaker stereo. The base stereo doesn't have a CD player, but it does have an audio input jack for MP3 players.

If you upgrade to the SE trim, you'll get a stereo with a CD player, as well as a tilt and telescopic steering wheel. SEL and SES trims come standard with Ford's Sync infotainment system, which uses voice commands to control the stereo. It also allows drivers to control some mp3 players and most Bluetooth-enabled cell phones, with voice commands.

  • "The Fiesta's interior is among the higher-quality offerings in the class in terms of materials and features." -- Cars.com
  • "Ours was clearly an optioned-up version with leather and a nice stereo, but even the base model will benefit from the solid, attractive dash, comfortable seats and room for four adults (five in a pinch)." -- Jalopnik

Even though it shares a space-maximizing wedge shape with the Honda Fit, many reviewers say that the Fiesta hatchback lags behind the competition when it comes to cargo. The hatchback's seats fold down, but not flat, and it only has 26 cubic feet of cargo space behing the front row.

  • "There's also decent space behind the folding rear seat, with a deep trunk well and easy access." -- New Car Test Drive
  • "Both the Fiesta and the Fit have the same basic jelly-bean silhouette, which maximizes interior space, but the Honda, with an extra 6.1 inches of length and marvelous folding rear seats, wins on cargo size and versatility. When folded, the Fiesta's rear seats don't make a flat load floor, but the Honda's do." -- Car and Driver
  • "Transporting our rented bikes anywhere was a no-go, as only one fit in the Fiesta." -- Automobile Magazine
