2011 Ford Fiesta Overview

The 2011 Ford Fiesta won our 2011 Best Subcompact Car for the Money award thanks to its positive reviews when it was new and its low five-year total cost of ownership. Reviewers were impressed with almost everything about the Fiesta, especially its strong performance and well-made interior.

The 2011 Fiesta is available as sedan or hatchback, and both have a good amount of cargo space for the class. Reviewers even said that both the front and rear seats have enough space for adults to sit comfortably, which is rare praise for a car as small as the Fiesta. Test drivers said the Fiesta had a quality interior, though it didn’t come with many standard interior features. There were a lot optional ones when it was new, such as the voice-activated Sync infotainment system, leather-trimmed seats and heated front seats. The 2011 Fiesta also has a standard driver’s knee air bag, which is impressive for a car in this class.

One of the main reasons to purchase a used 2011 Ford Fiesta is for its fuel economy. With a 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission, it can get up to 29/40 mpg city/highway, but that’s with an available Super Fuel Economy package. The Fiesta can get up to 29/38 mpg with the automatic transmission without the Super Fuel Economy package. Some reviewers called the 2011 Fiesta the best-performing car in its class for its smooth engine and zippy handling. The Fiesta also has strong safety ratings.

Other Cars to Consider

If you want a bit more space but still want sporty performance, consider the 2011 Mazda3. Available as a sedan or hatchback, the Mazda3 has more passenger and cargo space than the Fiesta, and reviewers said it’s very fun to drive. The penalty for that extra size and performance is the Mazda3’s fuel economy, which is worse than the Fiesta’s, but still decent for a compact car.

If you like the Ford Fiesta but need more interior space, the 2011 Honda Fit is a good option. This hatchback has spacious seating for five and more cargo space than the Fiesta. Like the Fiesta, the 2011 Fit is fun to drive, but its fuel economy ratings, which top out at 28/35 mpg, aren’t as high as the Fiesta’s. The Fit was named the 2011 Best Hatchback and Subcompact Car for Families and the 2011 Best Hatchback for the Money.
