2011 Ford F-150 Overview

Reviewers said the updates to the F-150 for 2011 brought it back to the top of the pack. They said its ride is comfortable, refined and solid. Reviewers were impressed with the new engines, and said the base V6 is a better choice than rivals’ V6 engines. The three available engines also received high marks from reviewers, especially the EcoBoost V6, which critics said makes the F-150 feel especially fast. A two-wheel drive F-150 with the base V6 achieves 17/23 mpg city/highway, which is a bit better than most key rivals’ fuel economy. The EcoBoost V6, which is the most powerful engine offered in the 2011 F-150, gets only slightly worse ratings of 16/22 mpg. The F-150 can tow up to 11,300 pounds, which is one of the highest ratings in the class. The off-road-oriented SVT Raptor model received the 6.2-liter V8 standard for 2011.

Reviewers said the F-150’s cabin is well-designed, well-built and uses mostly quality materials. A regular cab F-150 has seats for up to three people, while Super Cab (extended) and SuperCrew cabs can seat up to six people. Reviewers said the front seats are supportive and comfortable. Few reviewers commented on the Super Cab’s back seats, but those who tested the SuperCrew said the back seats are comfortable and spacious. Like most full-size trucks, the base XL trim has few standard features. Available features included Ford’s SYNC system, a backup camera, Bluetooth, an upgraded stereo, satellite radio, leather seats, heated and power-adjustable front bucket seats and dual-zone climate control. Ford also offered unique features for those in the construction industry, like Tool Link, Cable Lock and Crew Chief.

The 2011 F-150 has one of the highest safety scores in the class.
