Buying Advice

Last Updated: July 18, 2019

Torrid Demand: Ford Expedition, second in large SUV sales and winner of our 2019 Best Large SUV for Families award, has jumped 56% in sales this year relative to the same span as last year. The Expedition is outselling the Chevrolet Tahoe, the runner-up in sales by about 23%.

Very High Prices: The Expedition has the highest base price in its class at $52,130, which is more than $2,700 higher than the class average. The top-of-the-line model is $79,200, which is $6,700 more expensive than the next highest price in its class, the GMC Yukon.

Time to Buy: Even though it’s expensive, the Expedition is still the number one ranked large SUV, so you’ll get your money’s worth if you decide to buy. If you’re looking to save money, check out the Chevy Suburban. The Suburban has a base price of just about $1,300 less than the Expedition. Take a look at our Ford deals and Chevy deals pages for the best deals on both models.
