2007 Ford Expedition Overview

The redesigned 2007 Ford Expedition is Ford's large, flagship SUV. It's well liked for its hauling and storage capabilities as well as its interior comfort, but many reviewers warn that the Expedition's mediocre driving capabilities should be expected given its massive size. Kelley Blue Book is able to sum up the Expedition's qualities best: "The Expedition can easily match most of its competition in the area's of comfort, safety and high-tech options, and is nearly at the top of its class in horsepower and torque."

The Expedition also gets kudos for adding the new extended length (EL) trims this year, adding 15 inches and giving competitors a run for their money. As Motor Trend claims, "Spacious, capable, comfortable, and less expensive, the new Expedition EL package simply beats a comparable [Chevrolet] Suburban at its own game." The 2007 Expedition earned a "Recommended" award from Consumer Guide.

The 2007 Ford Expedition's price has been rolled back by several thousand dollars, although EL trims add slightly more than $1,000 vs. similarly-equipped non-EL trims. Car and Driver reports that "prices are a few thousand dollars less than GM's big SUVs," prompting Edmunds to recommend "with a sticker price low enough to let one indulge in a few more options or a down payment on a trailer and ATVs, it's hard to go wrong." IntelliChoice gives the 2007 Ford Expedition's base model a rating of "average" for its predicted five-year total cost of ownership compared to others in its class.
