2007 Ford Crown Victoria Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria was new.

Interior: 6.2

With front bench seating, ample space and sufficient interior comfort features, the 2007 Ford Crown makes for a comfortable cruise. Auto writers generally find the cabin of the Crown Victoria decent, with soft seating for six; however, the seating lacks adequate firmness for support, the controls are solid but dated, and the interior materials are cheap.

Edmunds reports that if you have "ridden in a taxicab recently, you know that interior design and materials quality are not among the Crown Victoria's strengths," concluding that the cabin is "basic, roomy and comfortable."

The Crown Victoria offers spacious front bench seating, allowing driver and passengers to sink in and enjoy a supple ride. Auto reviewers agree that the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria's seats are soft but lack adequate firmness for support during long-distance rides and are relatively flat, providing little sideways support. Room is ample in the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria, seating six adults inside. "The Crown Victoria is one of the few remaining cars sold in America that still offers a bench front seat," says Automobile Magazine, "but the middle spot is cramped, leaving the passenger to contend with the driveline hump." AutoMedia.com adds that "interior roominess front and rear is excellent," and "the cloth-covered front bench seat is predictably flat yet fairly comfortable." Kelley Blue Book agrees, nothing that leg- and headroom is "good" in both the front and rear of the Crown Victoria. Consumer Guide Automotive notes that the interior of the Crown Victoria has a "good-old big-car feel, with adult-size room and easy access. However, seats in all models are virtually flat, providing poor lateral support in turns," and the "bench seat [is] too soft for long-distance comfort."

Interior Features

Auto writers agree that although the interior features and controls in the Crown Victoria are easy to use, they are also old and in need of updating. Automobile Magazine reports that the instruments and controls inside the vehicle are "fairly simple and straightforward, if somewhat outdated and unstylish." Auto writers from Kelley Blue Book agree, calling the dash "simple and straightforward, though reaching the radio and heating controls require a bit of a stretch." They also mention that although "tastefully designed, the hard plastics used for the dash and door panels create a look and feel of an aging car in need of a redesign." MSN Autos adds that although the cabin of the Crown Victoria is composed of "mostly good materials . . . there are a few too many hard plastic surfaces."

When looking over the car's features, MSN Autos finds that the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria comes "well equipped, with the usual power accessories and a good number of comfort and convenience items." The list of features supports this conclusion, as the car comes standard with remote power door locks, one-touch power windows, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, front cupholders, front door pockets, front seatback storage, 12-volt front power outlets, air conditioning, dual vanity mirrors, front and rear floor mats, front reading lights and an AM/FM in-dash single-CD player stereo with four speakers. The Crown Victoria LX trim comes with automatic climate control, a compass and power-adjustable pedals.

The Crown Victoria comes with a generous 21 cubic feet of trunk space that Edmunds auto reviewers say can "easily swallow a week's worth of luggage for four adults." Consumer Guide Automotive adds that the Crown Victoria trunk "holds lots of stuff, but space concentrates in a deep center well, so removing heavy objects is a strain and some bulky items are a tough fit." Auto writers from MSN Autos call the trunk opening "fairly low" and "wide" but add that the full-size spare tire "eats into cargo space." MSN Autos adds that on the "plus side, there are plenty of cupholders and storage area" in the cabin of the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria.
