Performance

Chevrolet says the 2017 Camaro ZL1 is the most powerful production Camaro to date, beating out the current range-topping 2016 Camaro SS. Under the hood is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, and Chevrolet has picked this Camaro to be the first recipient of its all-new 10-speed automatic transmission option (a six-speed manual is standard). The 2017 Camaro ZL1's rating of 650 horsepower positions this model well above the most powerful 2017 Ford Mustang currently available: the 526-horsepower Shelby GT350 Mustang. The Camaro ZL1 is also on pace to dust the Shelby GT350 in a straight-line race, reaching 60 mph in 3.5 seconds (beating the Mustang's estimated 4.3-second time).
