2010 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2010 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti was new.

Interior: 8.4

Auto writers praise the Scaglietti for its first-rate materials, quality craftsmanship and modern amenities. Like some of its exotic competitors, the Scaglietti’s cabin is even highly customizable -- so no two look alike. What’s more, it provides a fair amount of cargo space for its class.

  • "Inside the cabin the true specialness becomes apparent. This is a Ferrari for those who regard lesser Ferraris as being not exclusive enough, and the quality of fit and finish is exemplary -- and a clear improvement over the 456." -- Fifth Gear
  • "The 612 Scaglietti's interior breaks the stereotype that driving a Ferrari requires sacrificing creature comforts. This leather-lined cabin features sumptuous seating and high-quality materials throughout." -- Edmunds
  • "The cabin is beautifully finished in a way that makes most rivals look very mass market." -- Yahoo Autos

Reviewers find the 612 Scaglietti’s low-slung cabin difficult to enter and exit, but like its comfortable and supportive front seats once inside. However, its rear seats are a different story. Technically, this Ferrari provides seating for four passengers, but is better suited for two. In fact, no exotic sports car seats four passengers comfortably.

  • "Entry and exit are helped by a power front passenger seat, but the low roofline requires crouching to fully reach the rear compartment." -- Consumer Guide
  • "The driving position features a decent range of adjustment and the high-speed refinement is outstanding, making the 612 a pretty much peerless place to spend serious time." -- Fifth Gear
  • "The leather-swathed cabin is, in complete truth, roomy enough to accommodate four six-foot passengers for extended periods of time, something we've never before seen in a Ferrari." -- Automobile.com
  • "The rear seats are a good deal more spacious than the rather token affairs in the [Ferrari] 456 although they're still not a place you'd opt to spend any great time." -- Yahoo Autos

Interior Features

Critics admire the 612 Scaglietti’s long list of modern, intuitive features -- especially its electrochromic roof with three tint settings and powerful Bose sound system.

  • "As befits its lightweight underpinnings, the 612 Scaglietti's 2+2 interior is trimmed in aluminum, with impeccably handcrafted leather upholstery throughout. The contoured front sport seats are power-adjustable with a unique headrest design that can be raised and lowered electrically in conjunction with the seatbelt." -- Forbes
  • "[M]ost modern is the 612's electrochromic glass roof that goes from see-through to no-see at a button's touch, as seen from a sumptuous, leather-covered interior." -- Road and Track
  • "Drivers can control the car's many interactive systems via small, intuitive buttons mounted on the steering wheel." -- Edmunds
  • "Minor complaints include small radio buttons with indistinct markings and a speedometer that can be tough to read at a glance." -- Consumer Guide
  • "The Bose sound system in our test car, with nine speakers jammed inside the cockpit, was grand." -- MarketWatch
  • "The audio system gives clear, crisp sound reproduction, even at very high speeds. Satnav is an extra cost option, which seems a bit stingy at this end of the market." -- Fifth Gear

The Scaglietti only provides 8.75 cubic feet of cargo space -- which is small by most standards, but quite good for this class.

No exotic sports car features abundant cargo room, but some do provide more than the Scaglietti. While the Ferrari F430’s 8.8 cubic feet of trunk space is only marginally better, the Ferrari California leads the pack with 9.2 to 12.7 cubic feet, depending on the position of its convertible top.

  • "The boot is also bigger a good 25 per cent up on the 456 and well up to the task of swallowing a couple of golf bags." -- Yahoo Autos
  • "Boot is reasonably sized by supercar standards." -- Fifth Gear
