2012 Dodge Grand Caravan Review

Reviewers said the Stow n’ Go seats in the 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan make carrying cargo a breeze.

Pros & Cons

  • Stow n’ Go makes carrying cargo easy
  • Uncomfortable second- and third-row seats

2012 Dodge Grand Caravan Overview

Critics wrote that the 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan has decent acceleration, but they expected it to be faster, considering the 283-horsepower rating of its standard V6. The Dodge Grand Caravan gets an EPA-estimated 17/25 mpg city/highway, which is on par for the class. Test drivers said the Grand Caravan rides smoothly on bumpy roads and handles well when cornering. The Dodge Grand Caravan’s responsive brakes also impressed critics. Reviewers said the steering is well-weighted, and they wrote that the Grand Caravan’s small turning radius makes it easy to maneuver in tight places like parking lots.

Some critics said the 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan has premium interior materials, while others wrote that the materials in the Grand Caravan are durable. The seven-seat Grand Caravan comes standard with Stow n’ Go second- and third-row seats, which fold flat into the floor, creating a large, 143.8-cubic-foot cargo area. Automotive journalists loved the Stow n’ Go seats, although some complained that the second-row seats have too little padding and the third-row seats aren’t comfortable. The 2012 Grand Caravan comes standard with a four-speaker audio system and an auxiliary jack. Available features include a power liftgate, dual power-sliding doors, tri-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, heated first- and second-row seats, blind spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, satellite radio and navigation.

Other Minivans to Consider

Like the Grand Caravan, the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country offers standard Stow n’ Go seating. It also has a much longer list of standard features, including leather seats and a rear-seat entertainment system.

The 2012 Nissan Quest has less overall cargo space than the Grand Caravan, although critics were impressed with its premium materials, which include wood grain trim and optional leather upholstery.
