2010 Dodge Grand Caravan Overview

The 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan suffers from the same pitfalls as its platform mate, the Chrysler Town & Country, with its lackluster performance and subpar build quality. However, critics were fond of the Grand Caravan's kid-friendly interior features and impressive cargo space.

Despite the base model’s weak engine, reviewers felt that the higher trims had enough power for the highway. The Grand Caravan’s fuel economy is average for the class.

Many test drivers were pleased with the spacious interior and innovative second- and third-row seats. However, they also thought those seats were better suited to children. Two different seating arrangements were available when the Grand Caravan was new. The Stow ‘n Go seats fold flat to create more cargo room, while the Swivel ‘n Go seats can turn 180 degrees to face the third row.

Notable standard features include cruise control and a four-speaker sound system with an auxiliary input for audio devices. When it was new, optional features included satellite radio, a DVD entertainment system package with flip-down LCD screens and a navigation system.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2009 Toyota Sienna offers a more powerful base engine and a nicer interior than the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. Reviewers found that the Sienna was a great minivan when it was new because it offered comfort, good performance and great value. However, the Sienna doesn’t offer different seating configurations like the Grand Caravan. The Grand Caravan also performed better in crash tests.

If you’re looking for a minivan that is a great all-around vehicle, you should consider the 2009 Honda Odyssey. Like the Sienna, the Odyssey doesn’t offer the Grand Caravan’s unique seating arrangements, but it outmatches both the Grand Caravan and the Sienna in performance, overall interior quality and safety. If you want a more refined family vehicle, the Odyssey should be on your list.
