2007 Dodge Durango Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2007 Dodge Durango was new.

Interior: 7.9

Reviewers generally like the Durango's comfortable, modest interior and plentiful cargo space, but their overall praise is lukewarm. "Inside the cabin, you'll find clean lines," writes Edmunds, adding, however, "The Durango is no class leader when it comes to interior style."

Interior size is a strength of the Durango, however, with seating for up to eight depending on configuration. Motor Week noted Dodge's "large, airy cabin with clean, modern styling and three rows of seats." As for cargo-hauling capability, USA TODAY deems the Durango "commodious and wide enough to hold a four-foot-wide sheet of drywall or plywood flat on the floor."

The Durango seats five, but when properly equipped it can accommodate up to eight passengers, which Dodge touts as "Best in Class." Overall, reviewers are pleased with the Durango's cabin and find the seating comfortable. Motor Week says, "You step up high to enter, but the reward is a large, airy cabin with clean, modern styling and three rows of seats." In the cockpit, "the handsome dash is clean, simple and easy to use, with controls well within the driver's reach and logically arranged," notes Kelley Blue Book.

New Car Test Drive finds the front seats "neither too soft nor too firm," while Carz Unlimited judges them "roomy and comfortable," although "adults will find legroom and storage areas in short supply in the second row." Edmunds agrees, saying, "The cabin is roomy in most respects, but unfortunately, adults will likely find that the second row's available legroom is rather tight."

A third row of seating is also available. The Family Car points out, "Oftentimes, getting into these third-row seats is quite a challenge, but it's easy in the Durango. The second-row seats tumble forward to create a large passage way to the back seat." The reviewer continues, "Predictably, legroom for the third seat is pretty tight for adults, but it is tolerable for short distances." Kelley Blue Book also appreciates the "flip-and-tumble second-row seat," which "greatly aids entry for rear passengers."

Interior Features

The Durango is offered as an SXT, an SLT, or a Limited. The SXT comes standard with features such as air-conditioning, power steering, cruise control, cup holders, a second-row split-folding seat, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, and an in-dash CD player. The SLT adds premium features such as a rear air conditioner and an eight-way adjustable driver's seat. The Limited comes standard with an MP3-compatible stereo, Sirius Satellite radio, dual-zone climate control, and leather seats.

The Durango boasts 102.4 cubic feet of cargo room, which is coupled with thoughtful design. The Auto Channel explains, "There are many useful small storage areas inside the vehicle and within reach of the front passengers that complement the huge rear cargo area. In addition, there are two power outlets for charging the equipment that travelers need."

Thoughtful design also helps make the Durango a practical choice for those with large families or lots of gear. New Car Test Drive reports, "With all seats folded, there's more than 100 cubic feet of cargo space." Edmunds judges the cargo capacity as "more than ample for most buyers."
