2020 Marks the End of the Road for These Cars

As the auto industry continues its seismic shift from cars to crossovers, some models will inevitably be left by the wayside. The list of cars that reach the end of their journey at the end of the 2020 model year is long. It includes some great cars.

This year’s list of cars headed for the great scrapheap in the sky includes some venerable nameplates, which have been on the road for decades. They include the 2020 Chevrolet Impala, 2020 Buick Regal, and 2020 Dodge Caravan. In the case of the Regal, 2020 Lincoln MKZ, and 2020 Lincoln Continental, their demise completes their brands’ shift to all-SUV lineups. The cancelation of the Ford Fusion leaves only one car, the 2020 Ford Mustang, in the brand’s lineup.

Sales of many models on this list have been so dismal that you may have asked yourself if it was even still on the road. In some cases, the canceled vehicle has a replacement on the way, either with a new name or after skipping a model year or two. You can learn more about what’s coming down the road in the next few years by reading our guides to future cars, future trucks, and future SUVs

We'll start by asking whether it's a good idea to buy a car that's been put out to pasture, then we'll get to the list of vehicles discontinued at the end of the 2020 model year.
