Refreshed Acura TL to Debut at Chicago Auto Show

Posted: January 25, 2011

Acura is giving the Acura TL a refresh for the 2012 model year. The updates will depute at the Chicago Auto Show.

“Acura will show a refreshed version of the TL at the upcoming Chicago auto show,” says Car and Driver, “the first major update for the car since the fourth-generation model debuted for the 2009 model year. Details are thin for now, with the company simply describing the TL as ‘newly refined’ for 2012.”

There’s no news on the types of changes Acura has made – the automaker doesn’t mention any specifics in its press release, only vaguely stating that the TL “further enhances its position in the segment with aggressive, yet refined styling and performance.”

Kicking Tires hopes the updates reverse the TL’s 2009 redesign. “Has there been a redesign that’s as polarizing as the latest Acura TL? The car went from a contemporary style that made it the brand’s best-seller to a mess of angles that’s topped by a beak, which sent buyers heading for an Acura MDX,” adding, “It seems that Acura has heard the complaints.”

As for the performance and interior, the press thinks those aspects of the car won’t change much. “The interior will also likely get a once over, but no major changes are expected,” says Left Lane News. Only time will tell if the TL’s refreshing is for better or for worse. We’ll keep you updated on those changes.
