These Electric Vehicles Are Shockingly Good

As we move forward into the future of green-friendly transportation, sustainability, and renewable energy sources, many auto companies are working hard to provide consumers the coolest, most unique, and most appealing options. Electric vehicles are inevitable, but getting the public to buy in is a work in progress.

Due to the government’s Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards, automakers must plan for the future and look outside of the internal combustion engine. CAFE estimates are putting EPA mandates for 2025 at 54.5 mpg.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, few current hybrids come close to the CAFE estimate. Meanwhile, the top-rated EVs all far exceed expectations. The added benefits of electric propulsion include instantaneous torque, increased horsepower, and minimized vehicle maintenance.

It has proven difficult for automakers to convince the public to buy these vehicles, with obstacles like low gas prices, EV range anxiety, and limited charging infrastructure. The added cost of EVs is also a deterrent, but is partially offset by a $7,500 U.S. federal tax credit. Automakers must ramp up “bells and whistles” to woo consumers.

We will look at the world’s coolest EVs to find the best fit for most needs and budgets.
