Acceleration and Power

All of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country's trims have a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine makes 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Most reviewers like the powertrain, but also say that it’s not perfect. While you wouldn’t want to take the Town & Country to the drag strip, it’s fine around town and on the highway. Several note that the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna have more refined engines.

  • "The V6 provides adequate pull from a stop with sufficient passing reserves. Some steeper hills require a kick down for more power, but a slight stab of the throttle is all that's needed. Switching on a dashboard button labeled ‘Econ’ is reportedly supposed to help the driver save fuel, but it makes little perceptible difference in terms of pedal feel or acceleration." -- Consumer Guide
