2011 Chrysler Town & Country Overview

While not a complete redesign, the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country offers a refreshed exterior, but more noticeable and impressive to reviewers were the interior updates, which they felt were much improved versus previous models. The 2011 model also saw a big jump in safety ratings versus the 2010 version. The seven-seat Town & Country modified the standard Stow ‘n Go second-row seats, making them more functional and comfortable, while higher trims have traditional second-row captain’s chairs which don’t fold flat. Also, for 2011, Swivel ‘n Go seating was discontinued.

In addition to all the interior updates, Chrysler made updates to the engine. All trims sport a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 283 horsepower. This is a considerable upgrade to the base 2010 Town & Country, which reviewers slammed for being underpowered. In general, reviewers felt that the handling was also better than previous models, but they still preferred minivans that offered smoother rides. The Town & Country has average fuel economy for the class.

The 2011 Town & Country came with several standard interior and safety features that pleased reviewers and test drivers when it was new. Notable standard features include Stow ‘n Go seating, satellite radio, a back-up camera, rear parking sensors and a six-speaker stereo with a 6.5-inch touch screen. Available features include a rear DVD entertainment system with a dual display, which lets passengers watch two different programs, Bluetooth and a navigation system.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2011 Toyota Sienna was praised by reviewers for its reasonable price and family-friendly features when it was new. However, its safety scores aren’t quite as good as the Town & Country’s. The Town & Country offers a more powerful engine, but you’ll sacrifice a little fuel economy when compared with the Sienna.

The Honda Odyssey won our 2011 Best Minivan for Families award for its family-friendly features. When it was new, the 2011 Honda Odyssey was well-liked by reviewers for its interior quality, car-like handling and class-leading fuel economy. As a result, reviewers found the Odyssey to be an excellent family hauler. Both the Odyssey and Town & Country offer comparable safety ratings, but many reviewers felt that Honda had the edge with the Odyssey’s superior interior quality and performance.
