2009 Chrysler Sebring Overview

The 2009 Chrysler Sebring ranks toward the bottom of 2009 affordable midsize cars. The 2009 Sebring falls behind the pack in terms of performance and interior build quality. When it was new, auto critics thought the Sebring’s performance was dismal, saying its base four-cylinder engine was underpowered, its ride was too soft and its steering was particularly vague and inconsistent. Reviewers agreed that if you’re shopping for a car that’s fun to drive, the 2009 Chrysler Sebring is not it. The Sebring has decent safety scores that are average for the class.

On the other hand, if you enjoy the wind blowing through your hair, the 2009 Sebring is also available in a convertible body style with either a power-retractable hardtop or a soft-top. When evaluating cargo and interior space, test drivers said that despite the Sebring sedan’s small trunk, the car had plenty of back-seat head- and legroom, as well as comfortable seats. When it was new, reviewers were disappointed with the 2009 Sebring’s cheap plastic materials and questionable build quality. One feature they did like was the optional YES Essentials seat fabric that Chrysler claims is stain-, fade- and odor-resistant, which could be practical if you have kids or messy passengers. Another optional feature that auto critics liked is the MyGIG infotainment and navigation system.

Anti-lock brakes, six airbags, satellite radio, a six-disc CD player system with an auxiliary audio jack and a tire pressure monitoring system come standard on the 2009 Sebring sedan, while electronic stability control, traction control, Bluetooth connectivity and GPS were available as options and/or standard equipment on higher trim levels. The front-wheel drive base Sebring has a four-cylinder engine, while a V6 is also available. At up to 21/30 mpg city/highway, the Sebring sedan’s fuel economy is good for the class.
