2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Interior Review

Scorecard

Interior: 8.5

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has a mix of stylish materials, cheap plastics, and fancy-looking tech controls in its cabin. Passenger space and comfort are both good, and the infotainment system is easy to use, but overall cargo room lags other minivans.

  • "Elsewhere in the cabin, the Pacifica is stylish." -- Autotrader
  • "Fit, finish, and materials are several steps above the Dodge Grand Caravan, but a few downmarket plastic pieces lurk inside the cabin." -- Car and Driver
  • "Anyone who hasn’t been in a minivan for a while, or might just be getting to grips with the realities of transporting a large family, the 2021 Pacifica could seem quite futuristic. For instance, in place of a traditional transmission gear lever, a round dial selects Park, Drive, Reverse, etc. Even the parking brake works by button." -- Kelley Blue Book

Cargo

The Pacifica Hybrid has 32.3 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 87.5 cubic feet behind the second row, and a total of 140.5 cubic feet behind the first row. That’s a lot of space, but it trails what some other minivans provide. On the plus side, the Chrysler’s standard third-row Stow ‘n Go seats can fold flat into the floor rather than having to be removed. Unlike the nonhybrid Pacifica or the Chrysler Voyager, the second-row seats do not fold into the floor. You’ll have to remove them to use that space for cargo.

A power liftgate comes standard, and a hands-free power liftgate is available.

There’s a ton of small-item storage throughout the cabin. Cubbies and slide-out bins abound. There’s even an umbrella holder.

  • "As reparation for relinquishing the Stow 'n Go second row in hybrid models (the battery pack takes up all of the underfloor-storage space), Chrysler engineers added extra cushioning to the standard captain's chairs. When it comes to hauling cargo, the Pacifica doesn't disappoint. We managed to fit 53 of our carry-on suitcases inside with all the seats stowed." -- Car and Driver
  • "Cargo space for both the regular and hybrid models is plentiful, ranging from 32.3 to 140.5 cubic feet. Even so, that’s still not quite as voluminous as the Honda Odyssey. The low step-in height and standard power-operated side doors make access easy for virtually every family member, including those with wagging tails and wet noses." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Though not as roomy as gas-only minivans, the Pacifica Hybrid offers more cargo space than competing hybrid or EV crossovers. You get a massive 32.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats, which fold flat at the touch of a button." -- Edmunds (2019)

Seating

Unlike other minivans that accommodate eight people, the Pacifica Hybrid has room for seven. It comes standard with cloth upholstery, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, second-row captain’s chairs, and a third-row Stow ‘n Go bench seat.

The first two rows have plenty of head- and legroom for most adults to sit comfortably. The third row is similarly roomy, able to fit average-sized adults with ease, although taller riders may feel cramped on longer trips. The third row is easy to access, and all the seats are well-cushioned.

Available features include leather upholstery, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, retractable sunshades for the second and third rows, and hands-free power-sliding doors.

For installing child safety seats, there are four complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats.

  • "The Pacifica Hybrid is a 7-seater since it comes standard with the second-row captain’s chairs. In both versions, the third row is roomy enough for adults of average size. Up front are comfortable seats, excellent visibility, and a 'conversation mirror' that (among other things) allows parents to see when the kids are rolling their eyes." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "There’s abundant leg- and headroom while enthroned on comfortable front and middle buckets with flip-up armrests. … There’s easy passage to the third row between the second-row seats, and the rearmost seats will accommodate adults. … Big windows afford good driver vision to nearly any angle." -- Consumer Guide (2019)
  • "Because its second-row seats don't have to origami themselves into the floor, they're more thickly padded and therefore more comfortable." -- Autotrader (2019)

Interior Features

The Chrysler Pacifica comes with the Uconnect 5 infotainment system and a 10.1-inch touch screen. Using it is straightforward. Frequently used touch-screen buttons are featured prominently, and the interface is responsive. The infotainment system is well-equipped, with Amazon Alexa, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HD Radio, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, and a USB port.

Other standard features include remote start and tri-zone automatic climate control. A bevy of safety features are also standard, such as a rearview camera, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.

Available equipment includes navigation, a 13-speaker Alpine stereo, a 20-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, additional USB ports, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a DVD player, a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 10.1-inch touch screens, a tri-pane panoramic sunroof, and a family camera that displays the rear seats through the infotainment touch screen.
