2016 Chrysler 300 Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2016 Chrysler 300 was new.

Interior: 8.4

The 2016 Chrysler 300's cabin features a tasteful, handsome design, auto journalists report, with premium materials that some reviewers say rival those found in luxury sedans. They note the seats in both rows are comfortable and spacious, though some mention that the front seats don't offer enough side support. The infotainment system is easy to use, with intuitive menus and large, easy-to-read on-screen buttons, according to critics. The 300's trunk space is on par with that of rivals.

  • "What really sets the 300 apart from other sedans in this class is its interior. Elegant even in base guise, the 300 serves up more variety, more color and more upscale options than some full-blown luxury sedans." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "The theme inside is modern yet classic. The latest suite of technology features are paired with a tastefully designed cabin trimmed in upscale materials with a clear emphasis on detail." -- Cars.com (2015)
  • "The Platinum interior is indeed premium--here the Baby Bentley thing might legitimately apply. The matte finish, open-grain wood is excellent, and liberally applied. The leather dash and console are good, and the quilted door panels, great." -- AutoWeek (2015)
  • "Inside, the quality of materials has risen even further than the existing car, and the fit and finish is impeccable." -- Motor Trend (2015)

The 2016 300 seats five and comes standard with a power-adjustable driver seat, heated front seats and leather upholstery. Upgraded leather, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and a power rear sunshade are available. The front seats are comfortable and roomy, critics write, though some say they don't provide adequate side support. Test drivers report the rear seats are cushioned and offer plenty of legroom for adults. They add the 300's cabin is very well insulated from exterior noise.

  • "Faithful to its raison d'etre, the 2016 Chrysler 300's 5-passenger interior is comfortable and roomy. At over 40 inches, rear-seat legroom is especially commendable." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Any 300 has about as much room in the front seat as any car on the market, making it ideal for big guys but less than supportive during aggressive cornering. The rear seat is big, too, with plenty of room to accommodate three adults." -- AutoTrader (2015)
  • "The 300 is a potent, pleasant highway cruiser with a serene ride and a hushed, well-isolated cabin." -- Cars.com (2015)
  • "Given the Chrysler's ample proportions, it should come as no surprise that there's plenty of room for occupants of all sizes. The adjustability of the driver seat and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel is particularly generous, while the rear seats are both spacious and supportive." -- Edmunds (2014)

Interior Features

Standard features in the 2016 300 include dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, a rearview camera, a six-speaker audio system and Chrysler's Uconnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touch screen, satellite radio, Bluetooth and a USB port. Optional features include a panoramic sunroof, HD Radio, an Alpine, BeatsAudio or Harman Kardon audio system, navigation, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, active lane keep assist and forward collision warning.

Test drivers agree the Uconnect infotainment system is one of the simplest-to-use systems available, with easy-to-see on-screen buttons, quick responses to inputs and straightforward menus. For the 2015 model year, Chrysler replaced the shift lever with a rotary dial shifter, which reviewers agree is an improvement over the old shifter that didn't make it obvious which gear was selected.

  • "We find Uconnect to be one of the most intuitive infotainment systems on the market." -- AutoTrader (2015)
  • "The dials remain watch-like in appearance, but they're now split by a 7.0-inch customizable display that provides the driver with far more information that's much clearer and easier to read." -- Motor Trend (2015)
  • "Again this year, every facet of the Uconnect multimedia system is refreshingly simple to use from its intuitive menu structure to its large, responsive touch-sensitive buttons." -- Cars.com (2015)
  • "The most important interior update is the banishment of the maddening detent-less shifter, which made it difficult to tell whether you were in reverse, neutral, or drive. The 2015 Chrysler 300 has the same excellent rotary shifter found in the smaller 200 (and Jaguars)." -- Automobile Magazine (2015)

With 16.3 cubic feet of trunk space, the 2016 300 has an average amount of cargo room for the class. A 60/40 split-folding rear seat is standard. Most reviewers think the 300 has plenty of room in the trunk, though a few note the wheel wells reduce the usable space. There are useful small-item storage compartments throughout the cabin, according to reviewers, and they also like the versatility provided by the split-folding rear seat.

  • "At over 16 cubic feet, the 300's trunk is large, and the rear seats fold in a 60/40 split for added cargo flexibility." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "The sedan's interior proportions carry over. The large, comfortable backseat and wide, cavernous trunk provide oodles of room for tall adults and plenty of luggage." -- Cars.com (2015)
  • "Luggage capacity is average for a large sedan, checking in at 16.3 cubic feet, but the wheelwells may limit loading depth for larger items." -- Edmunds (2014)
  • "Interior storage consists of a large glovebox, center console, and door pockets. The available heated and cooled cupholders are a nice convenience." -- Consumer Guide (2013)
