Which Used Chevrolet Trax Trim Is Right for Me?

The 2019 Chevrolet Trax comes in three trims: LS, LT, and Premier. Every trim features a 138-horsepower turbo-four engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and either front- or all-wheel drive.

The LT is the best value for most buyers. It comes with more features than the base trim, and it offers almost everything you can get in the top trim. We list the standard features below, but you may be able to find Chevrolet Trax models with available features in addition to the standard assortment for each trim.

  • Chevrolet Trax LS: The Trax LS comes with a rearview camera and the MyLink infotainment system, a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and a six-speaker audio system.
  • Chevrolet Trax LT: In addition to the LS’ features, the Trax LT comes with premium cloth upholstery, cruise control, remote start, and satellite radio. It also offers a few option packages.
  • Chevrolet Trax Premier: The Trax Premier is the top trim, and it comes with all the features in the lower trims, as well as rear parking sensors, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a Bose audio system.

What Does Chevrolet's Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Chevrolet offers a certified pre-owned program for vehicles six years old or less and with fewer than 75,000 miles. Eligibility is determined by the vehicle’s initial sale date. For its certified pre-owned vehicles, Chevy extends the original new-car powertrain warranty to six years or 100,000 miles. These vehicles also get a one-year/12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty after the three-year/36,000-mile new-car warranty expires. Chevrolet CPO vehicles must pass a 172-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and 24-hour roadside assistance may be available, so read Chevy’s warranty page carefully.

Chevrolet has one of the better CPO programs among affordable carmakers, but Hyundai, Buick, and Kia are better, according to our analysis.

2019 Chevrolet Trax Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2019 Chevrolet Trax or 2019 Toyota C-HR?

The 2019 Toyota C-HR trails the Trax in our subcompact SUV rankings. The C-HR provides slightly more horsepower and gets better gas mileage than the Trax, though neither crossover is all that fun to drive. The Toyota has a higher predicted reliability rating as well, but the Trax has the edge when it comes to feature availability, passenger space, and cargo room. The Chevy also offers all-wheel drive, something you can't get in the C-HR.

Which Is Better: 2019 Chevrolet Trax or 2019 Mazda CX-3?

The 2019 Mazda CX-3 finishes well ahead of the Trax in our subcompact SUV rankings, and it's a much better vehicle overall. The Mazda is arguably the most athletic small crossover, with eager acceleration and nimble handling, but it also rides smoothly. Its cabin is full of premium materials, and its seats are comfortable. In this matchup, the Mazda is the clear winner.

2019 Trax Performance

How Does the 2019 Chevrolet Trax Drive?

The Trax's engine provides adequate power for most driving situations, but it can feel strained if you have a lot of people or cargo in the vehicle. Acceleration is unhurried as well. This Chevrolet's small size makes it easy to maneuver in tight areas, and it feels stable around turns. However, many rivals have nimbler handling and smoother rides.

  • Engine: 138-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder
  • Drivetrain: standard front-wheel drive; available all-wheel drive
  • Transmission: six-speed automatic

The lower anchors are set too deeply in the seats, and the top tethers can be confused for other hardware.
