2020 Chevrolet Tahoe Interior Review

Interior: 7.2

The 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe has lots of standard technology features and upscale materials throughout its cabin. However, the use of some hard plastics detracts from its overall appeal. Space in both the first and second rows is ample, but the third row could use more legroom.

  • "Inside, handsome colors and soft-touch materials form a thoroughly modern dash and center console, and the MyLink color touchscreen is one of the brightest and most user-friendly infotainment systems we've experienced." -- Autotrader
  • " … its nice-looking cabin is generally a pleasant place and is packed with modern touches. Build quality is generally good, but there are still plenty of hard plastics with rough edges throughout the cabin." -- Edmunds
  • "The materials are overwhelmingly upscale, and the controls are easy to find and figure out." -- Kelley Blue Book (2018)

The base Tahoe has several available seating configurations. In the standard setup, the Tahoe has seating for eight. An optional first-row bench seat increases the capacity to nine, and available second-row captain's chairs decrease seating to seven. There's also a package that removes the third row and lowers the starting price by several thousand dollars.

Standard features include cloth upholstery, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a six-way power-adjustable passenger seat, a heated steering wheel, and power-adjustable pedals. Seating enhancements include leather upholstery, upgraded leather upholstery, heated first- and second-row seats, power-release and folding second-row bucket seats, and a power-folding third row.

The first two rows of seats are supportive and have plenty of space, but the third row offers less legroom than the others and can be tough to access.

If you need to secure child safety seats, there are three full sets of LATCH car-seat connectors for the Tahoe’s second-row seats, as well as upper tether anchors for each third-row seat.

  • "One of the leading reasons people love the 2020 Chevy Tahoe is its massive interior. Among its non-GM peers, the Tahoe is the only full-size SUV that can accommodate up to nine passengers, a feat made possible by the LS trim’s available 3-person front bench seat. While the Tahoe’s third row isn’t as comfortable or roomy as the one in the Ford Expedition, it still serves as a suitable perch for kids or pets. Most Tahoe models seat eight, but there is a 5-passenger version that omits the rearmost seat, saving money and gaining cargo space." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Thanks to its body-on-frame construction and excellent door seals, this Tahoe is about as quiet as SUVs get. The first two rows of seats are roomy and comfy, but the same can't be said for the third, which is a shame for a vehicle of this size." -- Edmunds

Interior Features

There's a lot to like about the Chevrolet Infotainment System found in the 2020 Tahoe. In fact, reviewers claim that it's one of the most user-friendly systems out there. It’s quick to respond to inputs, has crisp graphics, and features a combination of touch controls and physical buttons.

Additional standard technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, tri-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

There's plenty of available technology in the Tahoe, including push-button start, proximity keyless entry, a sunroof, wireless device charging, a rear-seat entertainment system, a nine-speaker Bose premium audio system, a 10-speaker Bose premium audio system, and up to seven USB ports.

Available active safety features include a safety alert seat, front parking sensors, a head-up display, automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert.

  • "Of the numerous infotainment setups we’ve tested, the MyLink system in the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe full-size SUV is hands-down one of the best. It’s easy to use and navigate, with quick response times and big, colorful graphics. The system is not only compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it also offers onboard 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and voice activation." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "It's up-to-date with today's consumer demands. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and a quick-acting touchscreen cover a lot of ground when it comes to daily use of the infotainment system." -- Edmunds
  • "Inside, handsome colors and soft-touch materials form a thoroughly modern dash and center console, and the MyLink color touchscreen is one of the brightest and most user-friendly infotainment systems we've experienced." -- Autotrader

The Tahoe comes with 15.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third row, 51.7 cubic feet behind the second row, and 94.7 cubic feet with both rows folded down. These figures are below average compared to large SUV class rivals.

The cargo floor is pretty high, so loading bulky items may pose a challenge. Still, the Tahoe should have more than enough space for most shoppers, and it features a good amount of small-item storage.

  • "Cargo room is also compromised by the high rear floor to the point where loading larger or heavier items might require a helping hand." -- Edmunds
  • "There's even a 5-passenger Tahoe variant in the Custom model, which deletes the small third row and adds a bit more cargo space. Speaking of, the 15.3 cubic feet behind the third row isn't all that much. That is rectified by folding the third row to create 51.70 cubic feet." -- Kelley Blue Book (2019)
  • "Less thrilling is the raised cargo floor, designed to accommodate the fold-flat rear seats; it lessens cargo room vertically and increases the lift-over height when loading." -- Autotrader (2018)
