2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid was new.

Interior: 7.2

Despite the lack of soft materials inside, reviewers find that Chevrolet did a good job designing the 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid's cabin and making hard plastic materials look appealing.

  • "The cabin presents well, despite a lack of soft-touch surfaces. Many interior panels are comprised of hard, hollow plastic, though GM has done a fine job of making them look much more than budget grade." -- Consumer Guide
  • "The … Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid's cabin is nearly identical to that found in the regular Tahoe with its no-nonsense but attractive design and solid fit and finish." -- Edmunds (2012)

The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid has standard seating for eight. Leather seats and heated and power-adjustable front seats are standard as well. Reviewers say the first- and second-row seats are both spacious and comfortable. The Tahoe Hybrid’s third row is another story. Critics think that the third-row seats are a tight squeeze, and one critic says that even kids will be uncomfortable. Another test driver says the Chevrolet Traverse has a more comfortable third row.

  • "Both the bench and bucket seats provide very good support. Headroom and legroom are generous, as you would expect. Generous 2nd-row room, with comfortable seating accommodations. It's in 3rd-row room and access where Tahoe stumbles. The aft-most seats feel like they're flat on the floor. Even kids will ride in an uncomfortable knees-up position." -- Consumer Guide
  • "There's room for eight, but if you regularly fill the cheap seats out back, note that the Chevy Traverse crossover has better third-row accommodations." -- Edmunds (2012)

Interior Features

The 2013 Tahoe Hybrid comes standard with tri-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, a Bose nine-speaker sound system, satellite radio, a 7-inch touch-screen navigation system, parking sensors and Bluetooth. There are only two optional features: a rear-seat entertainment system and a power sunroof.

Reviewers say the audio and climate controls are simple to use, even though the standard navigation absorbs audio functions. One critic notes the buttons and touch screen are small when compared with rivals’. Another test driver notes that the hybrid-specific information display doesn’t add much value and that markings on the gauges are unclear.

  • "Tahoe's instruments are large, but some testers find the speedometer markings too indistinct for quick interpretation. The audio and climate controls are simple to use, even on vehicles equipped with the … navigation system. … Hybrids include an energy-flow display as part of the touchscreen/navigation interface, but some testers find it of dubious value." -- Consumer Guide
  • "Controls and switchgear are straightforward and operation is reasonably intuitive, but the buttons and touchscreen itself are on the small side compared to similar systems offered elsewhere." -- Edmunds (2012)

The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid has a total of 108.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row, 60.3 cubic feet with the third-row seats removed and 16.9 cubic feet with all seats in use. While there’s plenty of cargo space, critics note that the heavy third-row seats must be removed to maximize cargo space, which is a tiresome task. One reviewer says interior small-item storage is good.

  • "Cabin storage is enhanced by large center console bin. Roomy door pockets are found in front, but not in the rear." -- Consumer Guide (2012)
  • "If you want more cargo space in back of the Tahoe, the 50/50-split third-row seat doesn't fold away. Instead, it requires a lot of grunting and heaving to remove and store it." -- Edmunds (2012)
