2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid was new.

Scorecard

Interior: 8.8

The interior of the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid lets everyone in on the green revolution with seating for seven and amenities that SUV and minivan drivers have come to expect.

  • "High marks for Tahoe's upscale, contemporary cabin ambience. Assembly quality on all models tested shows strong attention to detail. Though soft-touch surfaces are scarce, the cabin's plastic textures lend impressive substance."--Consumer Guide

Seating

There's plenty of space inside the Tahoe Hybrid, which has three rows of seats.

  • "The Tahoe and Yukon are the first hybrids to seat as many as nine people,"-- Cars.com.
  • "Spacious 2nd row in all models. As an option, the 2nd-row seats can spring forward to ease access to 3rd row, though passage is still tight, and the seats must be manually restored to their original position. The 3rd row is best left to children." -- Consumer Guide

Interior Features

The 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid has a wealth of standard interior features, including an AM/FM radio with in-dash single CD player; a Bose premium speaker system with nine speakers total; auxiliary MP3 audio input; a DVD navigation system with voice activation; tri-zone automatic climate control; a leather-wrapped steering wheel; and a USB port.

Special to the Tahoe Hybrid is a fuel efficiency gauge that lets drivers see how their driving style impacts their fuel economy.

  • "Mark this one down: The Tahoe is the first hybrid to come with keyless starting; heck, it's even standard. That's right, Mr. and Mrs. Overindulgent American Greenie, the press of a button fires up six liters of gas-guzzling V-8 goodness in the driveway. You may be worried about your carbon footprint, but a cold leather seat is no way to start the morning." -- Car and Driver
  • "The efficiency gauge in the upper left corner of the instrument panel indicates the most efficient braking range to capture regenerative braking energy." -- Consumer Guide

 Cargo

The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid has good cargo space for a large SUV, but reviewers complain about the third row seats, which must be removed – they don’t fold into the floor. Removing the seats is tough. The Tahoe Hybrid has 16.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. Remove the third row and fold the second row and you get 108.9 cubic feet of space.

  • "Adequate for a single row of grocery bags behind a raised 3rd-row seat. Folded 3rd-row seatbacks rest well above the level of the rear load floor, complicating loading of larger items. Third-row seats unlatch easily but are heavy and cumbersome to remove. Cabin storage is enhanced by large center console bin. Roomy door pockets are found in front, but not in the rear."-- Consumer Guide
