2007 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx Overview

Reviewers say the 2007 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx offers solid if unremarkable performance; accommodating and restrained appointments, and a safe, uninspired ride. Motor Trend says, "Make no mistake: This is a utilitarian piece. If you're about style and/or driving excitement, shop elsewhere." The Washington Post calls the Malibu Maxx "comfortable, reliable, affordable and conservatively styled," and reports, "It is as safe as most midsize cars reasonably can be in a crash with a car of similar size and geometry." The Detroit News says "the Malibu Maxx is not going to do much to improve your image at the country club. But if you look at cars as appliances, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that attitude, you're going to be satisfied with this practical performer."

Reviewers are divided as to whether the Malibu Maxx is a good value. Edmunds believes so, writing, "The spacious and well-equipped Chevrolet Malibu Maxx offers excellent value with its versatile and roomy cabin, peppy performance and above-average fuel economy." The Detroit News, however, while pleased that "the Maxx packs a raft of features into a comfortable package," deems it "not as affordable as we'd like to see." IntelliChoice gives the Malibu Maxx a value rating of "poor," based on the five-year projected cost of ownership compared to others in its class.
