Buying Advice

Last Updated: October 4, 2019

Strong Sales: The Chevy Equinox is one of the best-selling compact SUVs, only behind the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. Chevrolet dealerships have moved 8.4 percent more Equinox models through the third quarter of this year than they did during the same span in 2018.

Competitive Prices: The starting price of the Equinox ($23,800) is slightly lower than the norm for a compact SUV. Still, budget-minded buyers may want to consider alternatives with lower starting prices, like the Hyundai Tucson.

Time to Buy: The Chevy Equinox is a practical choice, but robust sales right now mean it may be difficult to get a big discount. This month’s Chevy deals could help, though. If you plan to shop around, consider the Kia Sportage, a finalist for our 2019 Best Compact SUV for the Money award. While it is priced similarly to the Equinox, it places near the top of the compact SUV rankings and has sold slower than the Equinox this year. Check out the U.S News Best Price Program to locate the lowest prices for these options at dealerships in your area.
