2011 Chevrolet Colorado Overview

When it was new, the Colorado was offered with three engines, ranging from a base four-cylinder to a V8 shared with the full-size Chevrolet Silverado. Most reviewers said that the available four- and five-cylinder engines have enough power for daily driving, but advised that the V8 is a better choice if you’re going to do heavy towing or hauling. The Colorado tops out at 18/25 mpg city/highway with the four-cylinder engine, while V8 models get 14/20 mpg, which is actually less than a Silverado with the same engine. A manual transmission is available on four-cylinder models, while all other engines are paired exclusively with automatics. Both two- and four-wheel drive are available. A V8-powered Colorado can tow up to 6,000 pounds.

The Colorado comes in regular, extended and crew cab configurations, with seating capacity ranging from two to six. The 2011 Colorado received mixed reviews regarding seat comfort, as some reviewers noted plenty of support in the front seats, while others found support lacking. One reviewer mentioned that the crew cab configuration offers sufficient back-seat space for three passengers. All 2011 Colorado models come standard with air conditioning and Bluetooth, while upper trims added features like power windows and mirrors, a CD stereo and leather seats.

Other Trucks to Consider

The 2011 GMC Canyon is mechanically identical to the Colorado, with the same engine options and cab configurations. Since both trucks are so similar, your best bet is to shop around and see which one you can get a better deal on.

While it doesn’t have a V8 engine option, the 2011 Toyota Tacoma is one of the top rated compact pickups. It can also tow more than the Colorado and reviewers found its cabin to be one of the more comfortable and refined in the class.
