2011 Chevrolet Camaro Overview

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro has a standard 312-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a six-speed automatic transmission is available. Camaro SS models come with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 426 horsepower with the manual transmission and 400 horsepower with the automatic. The 2011 Camaro gets up to 19/30 mpg city/highway, which is higher than the class average. Reviewers liked the Camaro’s capable base engine, and noted that the automatic transmission offers quick, precise shifts. They also said that the Camaro handles better than some muscle cars, thanks to its composed suspension system and responsive steering.

While reviewers liked the Camaro's performance, they did not like the hard-to-read gauges and all the plastic in the Camaro’s interior. Most of them also thought the cabin is cramped. Reviewers said there isn’t a lot of legroom in the second row, and that headroom is tight because of the sloping roofline. Most reviewers said the low roofline also interferes with rearward visibility. The Camaro coupe has 11.3 cubic feet of trunk space, which is average for the class. Convertible models have 10.2 cubic feet with the top up and 7.9 cubic feet with the top down. Standard features on the 2011 Camaro include keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control and a six-speaker stereo system with CD player and satellite radio. Available features include rear park assist, Bluetooth, an iPod interface, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a sunroof and a nine-speaker Boston Acoustics stereo system. All convertible models come standard with rear park assist.

The 2011 Ford Mustang is one of the few sports cars in the class to post an excellent safety score. Reviewers also liked the Mustang’s base powertrain and athletic handling.

Reviewers liked the 2011 Dodge Challenger’s roomy interior and powerful base engine. The Challenger also has more trunk space, and it’s one of the few affordable sports cars that seats five.
