2020 Chevrolet Blazer Interior Review

Interior: 6.1

The 2020 Chevrolet Blazer's hexagon-shaped infotainment system, circular air vents, and available red accents give it a sporty, Camaro-inspired design. Yet the quality of its interior materials in lower trims isn't on par with those of class rivals. Also, cargo space is lacking.

That said, the Blazer has a user-friendly infotainment system and a substantial list of standard technology.

  • "The visual flourishes include soft-touch plastics and a two-tone color scheme. While the fancier models receive leather surfaces and flashier materials, our mid-level test car had several cheap pieces and mostly grayscale colors." -- Car and Driver
  • "Our test vehicle was a top-spec Premier model, so it had the nicest things Chevy could throw at a Blazer. In general, materials are quality, and there's nice detailing. But there are a few areas that aren't so nice. For example, the top of the Blazer's doors are made out of hard plastic." -- Left Lane News (2019)
  • "The design inside feels economical but thoughtful. The cabin's design is simple and mostly well made. There are a lot of small goodies throughout the cabin that are fun to discover." -- CNET (2019)

There's seating for up to five people in the Blazer. The seats have plenty of space and support, and rear-seat legroom is generous. Headroom isn't as favorable in the back row, especially in models with the available panoramic moonroof.

Standard features include cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Perforated leather upholstery, leather-trimmed seats with suede microfiber inserts, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel are optional.

For securing child safety seats, the Blazer has two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats.

  • "The Blazer's interior is one of its compromises. Slipping in and out of the cabin is easy, but a sloping roofline restricts rear headroom for 6-foot-plus passengers. There's also only enough shoulder room to comfortably seat two across in the back. Up front, there's more room and a range of steering wheel and seat adjustments to fit drivers of most sizes." -- Edmunds
  • "Fitting three passengers in the spacious rear seat for a trip across town is facilitated by the nearly flat floor, though headroom is a bit tight with the panoramic sunroof." -- Motor Trend (2019)
  • "Overall, interior space is good, especially considering the Blazer's relatively compact dimensions. Front seat passengers have ample head and leg room, and there's enough room for a couple of adults in the Blazer's second row." -- Left Lane News (2019)

Interior Features

The Blazer comes with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 interface, and it gets great reviews. The system features crisp graphics and logically arranged menus. It even allows you to create several driver profiles with audio, climate, and lighting preferences.

The standard infotainment system includes an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, four USB ports, and six speakers. Other standard features include push-button start, proximity keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, and a rear-seat reminder.

Available features include navigation, enhanced voice recognition, two additional USB ports, satellite radio, an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot, an 8-inch driver information display, and ambient lighting.

Several active safety features are optional, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and a following distance indicator.

A rear camera mirror, automatic high-beam headlights, a safety alert seat, a surround-view parking camera system, and rear parking sensors are also available.

  • "A streamlined dashboard housing the infotainment system’s 8-inch display underlines the new Blazer’s modernity. The cool Camaro-inspired center vents allow temperature adjustment just by rotating them." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Every Blazer comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The system's interface is attractive and easy to operate, but a rotary controller would be helpful to reduce distractions." -- Car and Driver
  • "The infotainment and connected tech are the real stars here. A new 8-inch touchscreen is the main interface, and it provides crisp graphics. You also get a high-resolution rearview camera with multiple angles, four USB ports, onboard Wi-Fi, and iPhone and Android smartphone integration." -- Edmunds (2019)

For a midsize SUV, the Blazer is lacking in cargo space. Behind the second-row seats, it has 30.5 cubic feet of room, and there's 64.2 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. A power liftgate and a hands-free liftgate are available.

A cargo management system comprised of a floor-mounted rail and a sliding cargo fence is available. With this system, you can keep your cargo separated and secure on your commute.

  • "The Blazer lacks the cargo capacity of most of its competitors. The cargo area measures 64 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, which is far less than competitors like the Passport or Hyundai Santa Fe. In particular, the Blazer's tall liftover height creates a challenge when loading heavy, bulky loads. That said, its clever cargo rail system is useful for securing items of varying lengths and sizes." -- Edmunds
  • "With 31 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 64 with the seats folded, we were able to fit 11 and 26 carry-on suitcases, respectively." -- Car and Driver
  • "The Blazer’s luggage area of 30.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats is smaller than the Ford Edge’s but roomy enough for most needs. For larger loads, release levers located conveniently in the cargo area create a flat load floor." -- Kelley Blue Book
