2011 Chevrolet Aveo Overview

There was little car reviewers liked about the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo when it was new. The available sedan and hatchback body styles offer some versatility, but car reviewers said the standard four-cylinder engine needed more power and that the Aveo’s steering was sloppy. They also said the Aveo’s seats were comfortable, though the cabin needed more leg space for adults. However, both the hatchback and sedan have a good amount of cargo space for their size. The Aveo’s fuel economy ratings of 27/35 mpg city/highway with the manual transmission are good for the class.

Compared with its classmates, the Aveo doesn’t have many standard features. The base LS Aveo comes with an auxiliary input jack and stereo, but it doesn’t come with basic features like air conditioning or power windows and door locks. Also, the 2011 Aveo’s short list of standard safety features doesn’t include anti-lock brakes or electronic stability control. The Aveo’s crash test ratings are among the lowest in the class.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Hyundai Elantra, which earned the U.S. News 2010 Best Compact Car for the Money award, has much higher safety ratings and a more powerful engine. Additionally, the Elantra’s handling is well-suited for both the highway and the city. Inside, the cabin’s front and rear seats have enough room for adults and the trunk is large. Though some interior materials are cheap, the Elantra has a class-competitive list of interior features that include available features like a USB port and heated seats.

Like the 2011 Aveo, the 2011 Ford Focus has good fuel economy ratings, but some reviewers wanted more power and a larger back seat. The 2011 Focus surpasses the Aveo with great front-seat space and optional high-tech interior features, like Ford’s Sync infotainment system. Unlike the Aveo, the Ford Focus also has good safety ratings and more standard safety features, which include electronic stability control and Ford’s MyKey system, which helps parents monitor their teen’s driving behavior.
