Enjoy Peace of Mind With These Safety Feature-Packed Cars and SUVs

Few areas of the automotive world have advanced more in the last few years than advanced safety systems. Today, even affordable cars come equipped with features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, advanced cameras, and rear-seat reminder systems. Those features are making cars safer from the driveway to the freeway.

Using data from our new car rankings, we’ve found 24 cars and SUVs equipped with the most safety equipment and technology. Things we considered include, but aren’t limited to: automatic emergency braking, rear automatic braking, blind spot monitoring, rear-seat reminder systems, teen driver systems, and LATCH hardware that scores “Good” in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) testing.

The IIHS evaluates the LATCH system used to install child seats, making it easy for parents to find those critical safety systems which are the easiest to use. The simpler it is to install child seats, the more likely they are to be installed correctly.

We don’t include airbags, anti-lock brakes, rearview cameras, or stability control as advanced safety features, since they’re required on all passenger vehicles sold today.

In most cases, these vehicles also carry safety scores of 9.5 out of 10 or better in our rankings. We’ve only considered mainstream models and did not include luxury cars and SUVs. Note that our scores can change over time as new information becomes available. The scores you see on the following slides may not match those you see on individual vehicle review pages.

Read on to learn about the 24 cars with the best safety features for 2020.
