2011 Cadillac STS Overview

While Cadillacs are typically thought to have a soft ride and comfy interior, the 2011 Cadillac STS targets the avid driver. Cadillac discontinued the V8 engine in the STS for 2011, but test drivers loved the STS’ powerful V6 and athletic handling. The STS' safety score is among the lowest in the class. As far as fuel economy, the STS V6 trails many other used luxury large cars.

In a highly-competitive class, the STS falls well short of providing the luxurious interior reviewers expected from a luxury large car. When it was new, many test drivers disliked the STS’ cabin because of its shoddy interior materials and small back seat. Some felt the seating was comfortable, while others thought the seats were too firm and space was tight. The STS’ cargo space is also less than competitors’. While they agreed most controls are readable and accessible, one reviewer noted that controlling the memory seat positions, mirrors and other settings through the touch-screen system was confusing. The STS comes well-equipped with standard features that include remote vehicle start, an eight-speaker Bose sound system with satellite radio and OnStar services. Notable available features you should look out for include Bluetooth, a 15-speaker audio system, navigation and heated and ventilated front seats.

Other Cars to Consider

The highly ranked 2011 Hyundai Genesis is a solid all-around luxury car that’s fun to drive. The Genesis has an interior that reviewers liked better than the STS'. However, reviewers rated the performance of the STS more highly than the Genesis. While fuel economy is comparable, the Genesis has more cargo space. Both cars come with standard rear-wheel drive, but the STS has available all-wheel drive, unlike the Genesis.

If you’re considering the STS, you should check out the 2011 Cadillac DTS because of its soft ride and spacious interior. The DTS will give you better interior quality than the STS.
