2010 Cadillac Escalade Overview

When it was new, reviewers said the 2010 Cadillac Escalade offered its occupants luxurious and high-quality interior appointments, a powerful V8 engine and good handling for such a large vehicle. Buyers can choose from a regular-wheelbase version or a long-wheelbase Escalade ESV, which offers additional cargo space.

Power comes from a 403-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine that critics said provided plenty of punch to get the Escalade moving. Fuel economy is fairly good for the class. Rear-wheel drive Escalades get 14/20 mpg city/highway, while all-wheel drive models return 13/20 mpg. The base Escalade is capable of towing up to 8,300 pounds, which is about average. Maximum cargo capacity is 108.9 cubic feet in the regular Escalade or 137.4 cubic feet in the ESV, the latter of which is very good for the class.

Inside, there are standard leather seats for up to eight. A Bose stereo, power liftgate, parking assist system, Bluetooth, navigation and tri-zone climate control are all standard. One drawback of the Escalade is that, like the 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2010 GMC Yukon, its rear seats must be removed in order to make the most of the its cavernous cargo area. The Escalade saw few changes since 2007, so you may be able to save money by shopping for an older model.

Other Cars to Consider

If you like the Escalade, you may also like the 2010 Land Rover Range Rover. The Range Rover is much more capable off-road than the Cadillac, and reviewers loved its luxurious interior appointments. Keep in mind that the Range Rover can only seat five and also tends to carry a higher price tag than most rivals.

Another SUV to consider is the 2010 Lincoln Navigator. The Navigator also comes in regular- and long-wheelbase configurations that can haul similar amounts of cargo. Reviewers preferred its easily-folding third row, but weren’t as smitten with the Navigator’s handling.
