2010 Cadillac Escalade EXT Review

The 2010 Cadillac Escalade EXT has a luxurious interior, but most rivals offer nearly as much luxury, as well as greater towing and hauling capability.

Pros & Cons

  • Luxurious interior
  • Refined ride
  • Can’t tow as much as other trucks

2010 Cadillac Escalade EXT Overview

When it was new, reviewers said that despite its size, the 2010 Escalade EXT feels light on its feet and provides a comfortable, refined ride. They said its standard V8 engine never left them wanting for more power and makes easy work of freeway on ramps. The Escalade EXT has standard all-wheel drive, and achieves 13/20 mpg city/highway, which is on par with other trucks with similar-sized engines, though some rivals offer smaller engines that deliver better fuel economy. The Escalade EXT can tow 7,500 pounds, which is less than what some rivals can tow.

Reviewers were most impressed by the Escalade EXT’s cabin. They said it is refined, quiet and solidly-constructed with high-end materials. The Escalade EXT is a five-seat crew cab pickup and comes with GM’s Midgate, which allows the back seats and back wall of the cabin to fold down to increase the length of the cargo bed. The Escalade EXT only seats two when the Midgate is folded. When it was new, the Escalade EXT came better equipped than other full-size trucks, and includes standard features like leather seats, heated front bucket seats, dual-zone climate control, navigation and an eight-speaker Bose stereo with satellite radio and a USB port. Optional features included ventilated seats, a power sunroof, heated steering wheel and a rear-seat entertainment system.

Other Trucks to Consider

The 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 is highly rated, thanks to its high-quality interior and ride that reviewers said is one of the most comfortable in the class. Reviewers also liked its available RamBox compartments, which add secure, enclosed storage in the cargo bed’s sidewalls.

The 2010 Ford F-150’s top King Ranch and Platinum trim levels have most of the luxury and features available on the Escalade EXT. Additionally, the F-150 can tow and haul significantly more than the Escalade EXT.
