2010 Cadillac DTS Overview

Most reviewers agreed that, compared with other 2010 luxury large cars, the 2010 Cadillac DTS’ greatest strength is its size. Though its performance can’t match class leaders’, reviewers said its interior is very spacious and comfortable. The DTS comes with a V8 engine, but reviewers felt that its girth and wide turning circle detracted from the driving experience. Reviewers were satisfied with the comfortable ride that the DTS offers, but said that it’s not as agile as the top-performing cars in the class.

At 15/23 mpg city/highway, the 2010 DTS uses more fuel than many cars in the class, and test drivers noted that the DTS’ poor fuel economy might be due to its outdated four-speed automatic transmission.

The interior is where the DTS shines most. With plenty of space, reviewers liked the DTS’ cabin, but thought that a few other rivals offered higher-quality materials. Still, test drivers thought that the seating was comfortable, and the DTS is one of the few cars that can seat six with an available front bench. Though the DTS is behind the competition when it comes to high-tech features, test drivers thought its gauges and controls were easy to use.

The base DTS comes with leather upholstery, power front seats, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth and OnStar. The Luxury trim adds features like a sunroof, parking sensors, tri-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and an upgraded stereo, while the Premium trim adds navigation. If you’re looking for a lot of cargo space, the DTS should exceed your needs with its 19-cubic-foot trunk.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Hyundai Genesis is one of the best cars in the class because of its excellent performance and well-appointed interior. When it was new, reviewers praised the Genesis’ engine power and driving dynamics. The Genesis has excellent safety ratings and stronger performance than the DTS. The DTS offers more cargo space, though the Genesis gets better fuel economy.

If you’re seeking a safe and reliable large car, the 2010 Volvo S80 is worth a look. The S80 isn’t a sporty or flashy car, but it’ll get you from point A to point B safely and comfortably and is priced in the same range as a used DTS. The S80 has better safety scores and fuel economy than the DTS, but the DTS has a larger cargo space and offers better performance.
