2019 Cadillac CT6 Interior Review

Interior: 7.3

The 2019 Cadillac CT6 has a so-so interior quality and design when compared to other luxury rivals. However, it provides a spacious cabin and a practical trunk, and most find the car's infotainment features easy to use.

  • "The CT6 Platinum's cabin is swathed in leather, and chrome interior trim is thankfully sparse. Overall, the effect isn't quite as nice as what you get from Audi or Mercedes-Benz, but it's getting harder to pinpoint the flaws." -- Edmunds
  • "Although there are many soft, squishy surfaces, there's an equal number of components right out of the GM parts bin, such as the turn signal and wiper stalks, putting the CT6's fit and finish a notch below cars like the Lexus LS and BMW 7 Series. Additionally, the dash layout is dated, and the gloss black plastic trim is a magnet for dust and fingerprints." -- Motor Trend
  • "Design changes inside are limited to a new shifter and some trim finishes, leaving some materials on the dash that don't quite seem up to snuff in a flagship premium sedan. In particular, the center console panel is flimsy, with the rear of it capable of being unclipped if a front passenger catches it right." -- CNET

The Cadillac CT6 seats five people on standard leather upholstery. It also comes with 14-way power-adjustable front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Options include heated, ventilated, massaging, and 16- or 20-way power-adjustable front seats; a heated steering wheel; and heated, ventilated, massaging, and reclining rear seats. The CT6 offers ample seating space for passengers in both rows, and the cabin stays quiet even at highway speeds. The front seats lack excessive support, but remain comfortable on long drives.

For attaching child safety seats, this Cadillac has two complete sets of LATCH attachments on the rear outboard seats and a tether anchor for the rear middle seat. All the anchors are fairly easy to access and use.

  • "The spacious cabin remains hushed from wind, road and engine noise, even when rolling at a steady 70 miles per hour." -- CNET
  • "The cabin is airy with large windows, excellent visibility, and enough room for you to cross your legs in the rear seat, perfect for long stints on the road." -- Motor Trend
  • "The wide front seats don't offer much lateral support but are plenty comfortable on long hauls. The massage controls are finicky, but the multiple massage programs are addicting. The rear outboard seats feel first-class, offering massage functions of their own. … The front seats offer tons of rearward travel and there's generous room in all other directions. Taller drivers have plenty of space. Rear-seat room is also ample, even for larger folks, but there are no footrests as in some competitors." -- Edmunds

Interior Features

Standard features in the 2019 CT6 include dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, and an 8-inch digital instrument display. Standard driver assistance features include a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and the Teen Driver system. Standard infotainment features include a 10.2-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system, satellite radio, wireless device charging, a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

Optional features include four-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, navigation, a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound stereo, a 34-speaker Bose Panaray stereo, a 12-inch digital instrument display, and a rear-seat entertainment system. Optional advanced safety features include automatic high beams, a safety alert seat, a following distance indicator, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, automatic parking assist, a surround-view parking camera, a head-up display, a rearview mirror camera, the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system, adaptive cruise control, night vision detection, and reverse automatic braking.

Some of these optional tech and safety features became standard partway into the year when Cadillac streamlined the model's trim lineup.

The Cadillac User Experience infotainment system is generally straightforward and intuitive. It has large on-screen buttons and quick response times. Critics disagree about the menu structure’s ease of use, with some noting that it requires you to look away from the road, and others praising the simple menu navigation.

  • "Cadillac's CUE interface is better than its earlier iterations, but to operate the haptic feedback buttons, you'll have to take your eyes off the road. Features you interact with frequently such as media, navigation, climate controls, and radio are integrated within the 10.2-inch touchscreen but require you to go into multiple submenus and lack redundancy. Thankfully, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are well integrated, and it only takes a step or two to change what's playing via voice commands. An optional 34-speaker Bose Panaray audio system rounds out the multimedia experience, but like many Bose units, it's bass-heavy and muddled at lower volumes." -- Motor Trend
  • "Cadillac's infotainment interface has been improved since its introduction. The touchscreen features large, easy-to-understand icons and a sensible menu structure. Other controls are mostly user-friendly as well, so it's an easy car to live with. … Technology is a strong suit for the CT6, especially with the beautiful 10.2-inch display and quicker response times. If you're looking for high-tech features that are also user-friendly, the CT6 is a good pick." -- Edmunds
  • "Bigger changes happen on the infotainment front with the latest iteration of Cue setting up shop on a responsive 10.2-inch touchscreen in the center stack. In addition to touch, Cue can also be controlled with a new rotary knob on the center console, replacing the old touchpad. When using either, the system is quick and intuitive to use, and easily controls navigation, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto." -- CNET

The Cadillac CT6 has 15.8 cubic feet of trunk space, which is about average for sedans in the class. Its wide opening makes it easy to load cargo, and a hands-free power trunk is optional

  • "The trunk has a wide opening that's great for loading large items such as golf bags. The trunk narrows abruptly at the rear wheelwells, however, and overall volume is modest at 15.3 cubic feet." -- Edmunds
  • "Trunk volume measures 15.3 cubic feet, which is not exactly generous. However, the trunk floor is low enough that suitcases can be placed on their sides, helping to make maximum use of the available space." -- New York Daily News (2017)
  • "Trunk space is just as lavish, with more than enough cargo room for four people to get away for the weekend." -- Left Lane News (2016)
