2021 Cadillac CT4 Interior Review

Scorecard

Interior: 5.2

The 2021 Cadillac CT4 has a fairly attractive cabin, but the materials quality is unimpressive for the class, and the CT4 isn't as luxurious as many segment rivals. The front seats are supportive, but the rear seats don't provide much head- and legroom. The trunk is small for the class, too. There are plenty of standard features, including an intuitive infotainment system.

  • "Cabin materials are merely acceptable for this class. The padding in various places is disappointingly thin." -- Autotrader
  • "Unfortunately for Cadillac, the CT4's somewhat down-market cabin doesn't quite hit the same target as entry-luxury compact cars such as the BMW 2-series Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz A-class." -- Car and Driver
  • "Lower-end versions of the Genesis G70 or Mercedes-Benz C-Class have nicer interiors than this Caddy. Even the BMW 3 Series, which doesn't feel particularly premium, is still a step above." -- CNET (2020)

Cargo

The CT4 gives you 10.7 cubic feet of trunk space. That's one of the smaller cargo capacities in the luxury small car class. On the bright side, the split-folding rear seats give you some flexibility when you need to haul larger items.

  • "The 10.7 cubic feet of trunk space is remarkable only for its stinginess. And this is all despite the CT4's almost-compact dimensions." -- Autotrader
  • "At 10.7 cubic feet, the trunk is likewise quite small, far less spacious than the 3 Series' 17-cubic-foot cargo hold." -- CNET (2020)
  • "Cargo volume is limited as well. With just 10.7 cubic feet of capacity in the trunk, the CT4 is embarrassed by a similarly sized car like the BMW 3 Series that has 17.0 cubic feet." -- Motor Trend (2020)

Seating

The CT4 seats five people and comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and a rear-seat reminder. Genuine leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, massaging front seats, and a heated steering wheel are available.

The front seats are roomy and supportive, even on long drives, but they aren't as sumptuous as some rivals' seats. The rear seats are cramped, and most adults won't want to ride back there for very long.

For installing child car seats, the CT4 has two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats.

  • "The seats are relatively plush but supportive and offer plenty of adjustment for individual preferences – a bit of a theme for the CT4-V." -- Autoblog (2020)
  • "The Cadillac CT4 seats five, but back seat legroom is especially tight. Those up front can stretch out in 42.4 inches of room, but folks sitting in back make do with just 33.4 inches." -- Motor Trend (2020)
  • "Cabin space is tight for adults, especially in the rear seats." -- Car and Driver (2020)

Interior Features

Standard features in the CT4 include dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, eight speakers, satellite radio, HD Radio, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Available features include a sunroof, wireless device charging, navigation, and a 14-speaker Bose audio system.

The CT4 features the Cadillac User Experience (CUE) infotainment interface, which is simple to use. Some of the physical controls are oddly placed, but they're easy to reach. The touch screen is responsive, but most rivals offer larger displays.

Standard driver assistance features include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, a safety alert seat, and Teen Driver, which lets you do things like set speed and audio volume limits for secondary drivers.

Available active safety features include a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic emergency braking, a safety alert seat, blind spot monitoring, lane change alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, and Super Cruise, which allows for hands-free driving under select conditions.

  • "The upgraded-for-2021 Cadillac User Experience (CUE) infotainment system is at least satisfyingly responsive, although the 8-inch touchscreen is already looking small compared with rival setups." -- Autotrader
  • "Inside the CT4, Cadillac has wisely switched to a more user-friendly control setup versus the largely touch-sensitive interface found on the ATS." -- Car and Driver
  • "The pair of asymmetrically mounted control knobs on the dashboard, while easy for the driver to reach, are just plain weird. Beyond all that, the CT4-V's gauges look nice and are far better than any instruments fitted to an ATS. … GM's familiar control stalks have been dressed up for Cadillac duty, but they still feel cheap, like if you flash the highbeams or adjust the windshield wipers with a bit too much enthusiasm they could divorce themselves from the steering column." -- CNET (2020)
