2012 Buick Verano Review

While some reviewers said it could use more power, the 2012 Buick Verano excels with a comfortable ride and luxurious interior.

Pros & Cons

  • Large trunk
  • Comfortable, composed ride
  • Limited highway passing power

2012 Buick Verano Overview

The 2012 Buick Verano has a four cylinder engine, and while some test drivers said that it produces adequate power, others noted that it feels weak during highway passing. The 2012 Verano gets an EPA-estimated 21/32 mpg city/highway, which is on par for the class. While some reviewers pointed out that the Verano is not a sport sedan, they still appreciated its composed handling, communicative steering and strong brakes. They agreed that the Verano’s ride remains very comfortable whether you’re cruising down a smooth highway or traversing a pockmarked city street.

Reviewers said that the 2012 Buick Verano’s interior is attractive and filled with luxurious materials, and some were pleased with its quiet ride. They said the five-seat Verano features spacious and comfortable front seats, and the back seat offers enough head- and legroom for two, provided the people up front aren’t too tall. The Verano’s trunk measures 15.2 cubic feet, which is large for the class. Additionally, auto writers were pleased with the Verano’s straightforward center stack, which features clearly marked controls and a touch-screen display with sharp graphics. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control and Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system, which comes with a 7-inch touch screen, satellite radio, Bluetooth and a USB port. Options when it was new include rear parking sensors, a Bose premium audio system, leather upholstery and push-button start.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2012 Acura TSX earned praise for its sporty driving dynamics and powerful available V6. Critics also liked its high-end cabin materials and attractive interior design. When it was new, we named the 2012 TSX our Best Upscale Small Car for Families.

Reviewers agreed that balanced handling and a standard turbocharged engine make the 2012 Audi A3 fun to drive. The A3 also has more cargo space than the Verano, and critics approved of its elegant cabin design and top-quality interior materials.
