2013 Buick Regal Overview

The 2013 Regal comes standard with Buick’s eAssist mild-hybrid powertrain, which includes a four-cylinder engine and a small electric motor, and critics reported that it doesn't feel very powerful. The Turbo model has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and reviewers wrote that it feels fairly peppy. Test drivers agreed that the more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Regal GS delivers very strong acceleration. The eAssist model gets an EPA-estimated 25/36 mpg city/highway, which is excellent for an upscale midsize car. On the other hand, it’s low compared with the fuel economy of full hybrid rivals like the 2013 Lexus ES 300h. Automotive experts said that the base Regal eAssist is nimble, and the sport-tuned GS is even more so. They added that the Regal has a firm, yet comfortable, ride, and most reviewers agreed that the Regal’s steering is responsive and its brakes are strong.

Critics said the 2013 Buick Regal’s interior is worthy of comparison to its European rivals’ interiors, with top-quality materials and a handsome design. Automotive experts noted that the Regal’s front seats are comfortable, but said there isn't a lot of headroom for passengers in the rear seats. The Regal eAssist has a battery pack that takes up trunk space, and its 11.1-cubic-foot trunk is small for the class. Turbo and GS models have a 14.2-cubic-foot trunk, which is large for the class. Standard features include leather upholstery, heated front seats, satellite radio, Bluetooth, a USB port and Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system, which features a 7-inch touch-screen display. Available features include navigation, a sunroof, rear parking sensors, proximity key and a nine-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Reviewers noted that the IntelliLink infotainment system has an easy-to-reach central control knob and straightforward software menus, though some complained that the touch screen is slow to respond to user inputs.
