2010 Buick Lucerne Overview

On the inside, reviewers found the Lucerne’s interior to be spacious and comfortable. Additionally, they liked that the Lucerne had a nice-looking dashboard layout with easy-to-read gauges and simplistic controls. Most test drivers thought that Buick could have used higher-quality materials inside the Lucerne, but they liked how quiet the cabin was.

Reviewers were split on interior features, but most agreed that competitors offered more electronic and interior features than the Lucerne. In terms of features, the Lucerne has standard features like cloth upholstery, a power driver’s seat, a CD stereo with an auxiliary input jack, satellite radio and OnStar. Added features like dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, leather seats with front heating and ventilation, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, remote vehicle start and rear park assist are available on certain trims. The Lucerne received the highest reliability rating in the class, however some other large cars have better safety scores.

While reviewers praised the Lucerne for its smooth ride, they found that handling suffered as a result. Additionally, they said the Lucerne requires a large turning radius and its steering lacks feel. The 2010 Buick Lucerne held onto its antiquated four-speed automatic transmission. Reviewers complained that much of the competition had moved on to five- and six-speed automatics, which offered more refinement. Even with its V6 and available V8, many test drivers said other large cars offered better performance and fuel economy.

Other Cars to Consider

The Ford Taurus was completely redesigned for 2010, and reviewers appreciated the improvements in interior quality and performance. Those seeking a practical large car will enjoy the Taurus’ large trunk and spacious, comfortable cabin. The Taurus’ reliability rating is good, but the Lucerne’s is slightly better. Still, the Taurus balances the scales with excellent crash test scores that the Lucerne can’t match.

If you’re looking for more luxury and refinement in a large car, the 2010 Toyota Avalon should be on your list. The Avalon offers better fuel economy and safety ratings, though the Lucerne does slightly better when it comes to reliability. Since the Avalon can be expensive, you may also want to consider the 2009 Avalon to save money.
