2009 Buick Enclave Review

The 2009 Buick Enclave offers a smooth ride, stylish exterior and especially upscale interior for its class. With its adult-sized third row and ample cargo space, the Enclave is a great choice for shoppers who need a spacious used crossover.

Pros & Cons

  • Smooth ride
  • Quiet, near-luxury cabin
  • Good safety scores
  • Lots of interior space
  • Not much towing or off-roading ability

2009 Buick Enclave Overview

Reviewers liked the 2009 Buick Enclave because it shares many of the same traits with its corporate cousins: the 2009 Saturn Outlook, 2009 GMC Acadia and 2009 Chevrolet Traverse. All offer lots of cargo space, a comfortable ride and sleek, stylish looks. However, the Enclave stands out among the crowd with its especially quiet cabin, long list of luxury features and car-like driving dynamics. Thanks to those upscale elements, test drivers said the Enclave is one of the most well-rounded crossovers you can buy. Safety-minded shoppers should also be pleased with the Enclave’s great safety scores.

The 2009 Buick Enclave comes with a 3.7-liter V6 engine and either front- or all-wheel drive. Bluetooth phone connectivity, a power liftgate and tri-zone automatic climate control all come standard on the Enclave, while some of its competitors don’t even offer comparable features.

Other Cars to Consider

If you need seating for seven and a vehicle that’s much more capable off-road than the Buick Enclave, be sure to add the 2009 Ford Explorer to your list. The Explore is a great SUV for towing, hauling and off-roading. The Explorer’s safety and fuel economy ratings aren’t as high. Just know that since the Explorer isn’t a car-based crossover, it won’t have the Enclave’s smooth handling.

Shoppers who don’t need all of the Enclave’s luxury, but like most of its other aspects should consider the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse. The Traverse shares many of the Buick’s positive traits since they share the same platform. Plus, the Traverse can seat up to eight, while the Enclave only seats seven.
