Buying Advice

Last Updated: May 24, 2019

Slow, Constant Sales: The BMW X6 is one of the slowest-selling models in the luxury midsize SUV class this year. The X6 is being outsold by its sibling, the BMW X5, by a rate of over 6 to 1. Sales of the X6 have remained steady in 2019 compared to the same span last year.

High Prices: A base X6 has one of the higher base prices in the class at $63,550, which is $8,000 over the class average. Choosing higher trim levels and expensive, custom options means you could be paying well over $100,000.

Time to Buy: Although prices are high, the X6 is having trouble selling right now, so finding a good deal shouldn’t be too difficult. However, there are many better, more affordable options For example, the base price of the Audi Q7 is $10,000 less expensive than the X6. The Q7 also won the 2019 Best Luxury 3-Row SUV for Families award. Another option is the redesigned Mercedes-Benz GLE, which is priced almost $9,900 lower than the X6. If you’re still set on an X6, be sure to take a look at a used model, which will help your bottom line.
