2015 BMW X4 Overview

Is the 2015 BMW X4 a Good Used SUV?

Yes, the BMW X4 is a good used SUV. It has the dynamics of a sports sedan, the raked roof of a coupe, and the elevated stance of a luxury subcompact SUV. BMW goes as far to call it a Sports Activity Coupe. In designing it this way, BMW had little regard for practical matters, as evidenced by its small back seat and cargo area. That might be fine if sleek styling is all you're after, but if practicality is a priority, skip the X4.

How Much Does the 2015 BMW X4 Cost to Own?

Is It Better to Buy a Used or New X4?

The BMW X4 was fully redesigned for 2019, so the new model sitting at the dealership looks different from its predecessors. Compared to the prior generation, the X4 has more standard safety features, enhanced driving dynamics, and a stronger base engine. All-new features include a panoramic moonroof and tri-zone automatic climate control. Some options, such as the color head-up display and adaptive cruise control, were not available for 2015. Pricing for the 2019 X4 starts around $20,000 higher than the 2015's average list price, so you should weigh these changes carefully to decide if the redesigned SUV is worth the extra dough.

Which Model Year of the BMW X4 Is Best?

BMW first introduced the X4 for the 2015 model year. For 2016, Bluetooth and high-speed USB connectivity became standard in the BMW X4 xDrive35i, and the more-powerful M40i joined the lineup. Which Used BMW X4 Is Right for Me?

The 2015 X4 is available in two trim levels: xDrive28i and the xDrive35i. The main difference between them is the engine each comes with. A turbocharged four-cylinder powers the base 28i, while a more powerful turbocharged six-cylinder engine propels the 35i. Spirited drivers will enjoy the base turbo-four, but true thrill-seekers may want to pony up the extra cash to upgrade to the 35i, which can sprint from zero to 60 mph in an impressive 5.2 seconds.

Certified Pre-Owned BMW X4 Warranty

The BMW CPO program is available on vehicles with more than 300 but less than 60,000 miles on the odometer. Eligibility is determined by the vehicle’s initial sale’s date. The program covers buyers for one year with unlimited mileage after the expiration of the four-year/50,000-mile new-vehicle limited warranty for passenger cars and SUVs for a maximum of five years of coverage. Each BMW undergoes a road test and inspection before earning CPO status. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available. Restrictions apply on transferring certified-pre-owned coverage to subsequent owners. Read the BMW warranty page carefully.

According to our analysis, this level of certified pre-owned coverage is better than what you get from Acura, though it's not quite as robust as the Mercedes-Benz CPO program.

2015 BMW X4 Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2015 BMW X4 or 2015 BMW X3?

The 2015 BMW X3 and BMW X4 are both slated as luxury compact SUVs, and these siblings have an identical engine lineup and similar interior amenities. Those who need a generous amount of cargo space and adult-friendly rear seats should pick the X3 instead of the X4. If you'd rather give all that up for coupelike styling and more-athletic performance, choose the X4.

Which Is Better: 2015 BMW X4 or 2015 Audi Q5?

The 2015 Audi Q5 has one of the nicest interiors in the class, with high-end materials, a roomy back seat, and lots of cargo space. The Audi has many more standard features than the X4, including leather seats and tri-zone automatic climate control. The Q5 doesn't beat the X4 in every category though. In this side-by-side comparison, the BMW is more athletic and has a better reliability rating. But overall, both are good choices.

Both BMW models come with a polished eight-speed automatic transmission and the xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
