Buying Advice

Last Updated: February 8, 2019

Rising Sales: The BMW X3 sold 50.8 percent better in 2018 relative to 2017. Sales of the X3, which hit the market redesigned for the 2018 model year, sat in the top third of the luxury compact SUV sales rankings. The X3 continued this trend in January as sales rose 6.1 percent compared to the same point in 2018.

High Prices: A base model X3 starts at $41,000, which is only about $200 more than the average for base models in the segment. Likewise, a fully-equipped X3 ($54,650) costs just about $200 under the class average for top-trims.

Time to Buy: Considering the sharp rise in demand, you will likely not be able to find a bargain price on a new X3. This month's BMW deals may help you find some additional savings. For a lower price, check out the Lexus NX. It starts about $5,000 below the X3, and the top-of-the-line model costs about $14,600 less than a base X3.
